Training for stamina I'd guess. Maybe he's planning a jab, run, and grab job...
I think that is likely going to be their strategy, to try and win this on points. AJ on the back foot trying to control Ruiz with the jab, keep him honest with single pot shots, try not to give him any openings and not engage when in close. Some rounds in their fight were close, and that was AJ in the mindset the fight would be a walkover. His mindset will be different this time, he now knows the risk in front of him. Ruiz wont be easy to KO with one shot, but maybe he can soften him up as the fight progresses?? AJ throwing heavy combos is risky, Ruiz will punch when he punches, so my gut tells me AJ will fight in a measured approach with the onus more on a points win, KO a bonus if it presents itself but he wont steam in like before if he hurts Ruiz, attack should be much more measured this time around.

We'll see. I hope Joshua can redeem himself, but i'm not confident, i expect Ruiz to catch up with him and win by KO.

He better be. That's his ticket to winning.

I have a feeling that this fight isn't going to happen like this. Just seems very strange all around.

Not the first time I’ve been accused of being weird. Andy Ruiz Jr is TFKoB. :OhYes: It is not meant to be funny or clever; just accurate.

I go to a lot of amateur shows in my city and when they were doing pro shows a few years back I went to them as well, ive been to a few other big shows over the years but truth be told apart from the local shows I doubt i'll go to a boxing card again, its an expensive night and I much prefer the view off the tv, I get that there's people who would've liked to have gone to this fight and are disappointed but what annoys me is the phoney outrage from some quarters who never intended to go in the first place, people who constantly slate Joshua moaning about the greed etc, ive not read this thread full yet so I'm really talking about boxing twitter where it has some of the biggest bitches around, its incredible, I'm all about the fights always so couldn't give a toss if it was in Timbuktu, ive personally got better things to worry about, but that's just my opinion

As for Saudi not being a boxing country, Zaire, Manilla and Tokyo are responsible for 3 of the biggest fight of all time, actually kind of makes me think we could be in for something special

I don't think there's any mock outrage here.

People are just saying it's a daft choice if Hearn had any consideration for the attending fans. Which of course he doesn't.

Probably not. I tend to make up nicknames for certain fighters. I stick to them. It is admittedly different. If that makes me weird . . . :maybe:

If I was Ruiz and didn't want to fight, just sign the contract, don't bother training , take $7million and do a Buster Douglas, easiest nights work ever

I don't really follow twitter but I can imagine the comments.

It's a strange decision though. Everyone is saying that Joshua had the final say on the venue. Well they could probably have sold out Cardiff or Wembley for this one so why Saudi for a few extra pounds? He would have had huge home support at either Cardiff or Wembley.

Do they think that Ruiz will be more unsettled in Saudi? Are they cashing in in case Joshua loses again? Why are they risking the loyalty of the home support of they are confident of winning? Lots of questions unanswered I think.

Who said AJ is getting 50m?

He’s probably getting 30m
Uk PPV
Dazn
Worldwide TV
Sponsorship (Middle East on top)
$40m fee for hosting

Either way he’s getting a lot of money to give up 75,000 tickets and Likely higher UK PPV sales.
Don't you think it will sell more in the UK without people going? Its not like it will be on at 4am like here.

Haha, that was my thought too. I'd bet a large share of the people complaining would've just stayed home at complained about Eddie Hearn or AJ anyway.

I saw one boxing "fanatic" today state that "UK boxing is dead". Which seems a tiny bit over dramatic.

I would actually consider the UK in December, and if it was to end up in Mexico or the USA my consideration would be very serious.
