Ruiz v. Joshua II Dec 7th in Saudi Arabia?!?
Re: Ruiz v. Joshua II Dec 7th in Saudi Arabia?!?
Ah yes I see it’s in the Middle East. I expect this event to go off, it will have fireworks, basically it’s the bomb. I expect ticket sales to explode.....
Re: Ruiz v. Joshua II Dec 7th in Saudi Arabia?!?
so mexico, a boxing crazy nation, has
their first ever heavyweight champ and
saudi arabia, which cares as much about
boxing as they like women driving, buys
them out of watching him.
isn't capitalism beautiful?

Re: Ruiz v. Joshua II Dec 7th in Saudi Arabia?!?
..capitalism is always at work..just think of Las Vegas..anything is better than that and STILL major boxing events take place there..I don't mind third parties showing their readiness to host major events be it in Africa, Asia or Europe...

Ya, people just are quick and lazy to assume that because Andy has Mexican background that Mexico is just dying to see him and he's in great demand and that stadiums and stadiums will be packed for people screaming for him. But I think there's really hardly any good evidence to suggest it's true. I'd bet they still care about somone like Jr. Chavez far more,
Re: Ruiz v. Joshua II Dec 7th in Saudi Arabia?!?
Mexicans care about Mexican born Mexicans. ODLH had challenges winning over Mexicans who were loyal to JCS.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑11 Aug 2019, 13:35 Ya, people just are quick and lazy to assume that because Andy has Mexican background that Mexico is just dying to see him and he's in great demand. Re: Ruiz v. Joshua II Dec 7th in Saudi Arabia?!?
I'm in a few Mexican boxing groups on Facebook an there is a lot of support for Ruiz. The only comments I've seen about Ruiz not being a true Mexican is from Puerto ricans
Re: Ruiz v. Joshua II Dec 7th in Saudi Arabia?!?
EDIT: Are they Mexican American? or Mexican Nationals? Just curious.

...not meaning it sarcastically just curious: was there any support for Ruiz BEFORE there were any plans to fight AJ?

Not that I've seen very few posts at all about him before the fight. I've made a few comments myself along them lines. I only joined a few of them recently so can't comment on them
There is a lot of hate for Canelo on their calling him a clown basically

No I mean an indicator as to whether he's liked or disliked. Maybe I'm missing the point?Onetimeonly wrote: ↑11 Aug 2019, 14:41An indicator for being a huge star? Do the groups have a few million members?

I was responding to someone thinking that all of Mexico is behind him and would turn out for the fight. Basically thinking he's canelo.Wa1nuts wrote: ↑11 Aug 2019, 14:42No I mean an indicator as to whether he's liked or disliked. Maybe I'm missing the point?Onetimeonly wrote: ↑11 Aug 2019, 14:41

TFKoB is plenty popular in Mexico. The fight would do huge numbers if held in a Mexican stadium in December. It would do excellent PPV in the USA.
The casuals are aware of TFKoB.

El Paso, TX would be an absolutely terrific place for the fight, too.

TFKoB is on every casual’s radar that I know personally. He is highly respected in the Mexican American community. There are major money people in Mexico who would back the rematch in Mexico if not for the contract.
He met with the President of Mexico. He was greeted by significant crowds on that trip.
I would definitely consider attending the fight in Mexico, Vegas, or Texas. Saudi Arabia?

I'm Guessing he's pretty well known an if the boxing fans like him then obviously the American thing isn't much of an issueOnetimeonly wrote: ↑11 Aug 2019, 14:45I was responding to someone thinking that all of Mexico is behind him and would turn out for the fight. Basically thinking he's canelo.

OK, he's a megastar. I don't know anybody that knows him or Joshua. Only a couple know wilder and fury.ironbeard wrote: ↑11 Aug 2019, 15:28TFKoB is on every casual’s radar that I know personally. I never said anything about people liking or disliking him.Wa1nuts wrote: ↑11 Aug 2019, 15:32I'm Guessing he's pretty well known an if the boxing fans like him then obviously the American thing isn't much of an issueOnetimeonly wrote: ↑11 Aug 2019, 14:45

I did not say that “he’s a megastar.” However, how many Mexican American HW boxers have been on the late night circuit, Rogan’s Podcast, met personally (and very publicly) with the President of Mexico, and have been as high profile on pretty much every boxing platform?Onetimeonly wrote: ↑11 Aug 2019, 15:35OK, he's a megastar. He is popular in Mexico, and with Mexican Americans, as well as boxing fans. He is also well known in boxing circles worldwide. He has fought internationally several times. Thanks to his weight he is also a bit of a cult hero.

I'd bet that most people who saw him on late night TV don't remember his name. Maybe your moniker!?ironbeard wrote: ↑11 Aug 2019, 15:55I did not say that “he’s a megastar.” However, how many Mexican American HW boxers have been on the late night circuit, Rogan’s Podcast, met personally (and very publicly) with the President of Mexico, and have been as high profile on pretty much every boxing platform?Onetimeonly wrote: ↑11 Aug 2019, 15:35
