Re: Ideal HW body?
The guy who was champ at any given moment
Re: Ideal HW body?
We do have guys that carry too much weight in the division. Likes of Ruiz and Miller. They still seem to be very effective boxers... Would they be better if they were lighter? Kind of hard to tell...
I think some would say AJ. Huge body with loads of power. I think all that extra muscle makes him tire out and slower than what he needs to be. I am guessing hes hard to hurt in the body tho.
I think Wlad had too much muscles too.
My vote goes to Vitali. Tall guy with enough movement and plenty of power.
Other good call would be Lennox.
Ali would be too small in the modern era. Hes pretty much the same size as Cunningham and we saw how he looked next to Fury.

Yeah someone like Vitali is naturally big thick boned and strong. But I wouldn't say that there is something like ideal hw body. Different fighters and body types have Different attributes.

I would say a fit Riddick Bowe or Buster Douglas would be ideal. Not musclebound but strong and fluid.

Ali in his prime. However, you can be bigger or smaller. It's what you can do that counts, not the number on the scale or the tape measure.

Wilder has the right body type for it

Re: Ideal HW body?
Ideal- tall and lank
Tall - good reach harder to hit.
Strong legs - stable in case hit.
Fluid, not muscle bound - able to sway out of reach, make opponents over extend.
Really solid abs, torso - less weight = better stamina.
Examples, Ali, Lewis Lennox, the Klitschkos, Wilder. Tyson Fury almost fits this mould, plus points for extra reach and fluid movement, minus points for softy belly.
Second best - stocky, fast, muscular
Solid muscular build - strength.
Incredible core/torso strength - power
Strong legs - used to crouch, move into position, unload/uncoil
Fast hands, able to deliver killer counters after slipping punches.
Examples are fighters like Tyson, Tua and Frazier.
Worst
Fat bastards.
Examples - Solis, Ruiz Jr.
Personally I don't understand how anyone contemplating making a living from hitting people in the head would want to come to the match in anything apart from top condition.

Re: Ideal HW body?
..no such thing as "ideal" body...I would exclude body builders and plain fat guys (not saying they are incapable of showing excellent results)..I'll go with Lennox Lewis..
Re: Ideal HW body?
Lennox Lewis. No doubt in my mind.

Re: Ideal HW body?
The ideal body is the one which has the most advantages for the sport. The "look" is not important at all. Names are not important here, a good student knows what body type the lasting champions have.

Re: Ideal HW body?
I was going to say Riddick Bowe too....but note that both the guys you mentioned had a tendency to balloon up to 300 lbs! Something about that "ideal" HW body type allows them to put on lots of muscle but also lots of fat, which can get them into trouble between fights.Roars Like Me wrote: ↑12 Aug 2019, 09:25 I would say a fit Riddick Bowe or Buster Douglas would be ideal.
