Thomas Hearns vs These 4 Beasts at 175lbs

Post by elmersalsa »

What if the great Thomas Hearns fights these 4 Beasts of the 175lbs division of the late 70s and early 80s decade?

What's the outcome?
Which one of the 4 is the best suited for the Hitman?

Here there are:
Matthew Saad Muhammad
Dwight Muhammad Qawi
Michael Spinks
Marvin Johnson

Hearns would lose to all of them. Johnson was the least of the 4 but still too much for Hearns. They all KO Hearns. Spinks - Hearns would be criminal.

I think qawi is the worst matchup for him. Don't like his chances against spinks though he'd box on even terms for 8 or 9 before getting caught. He'd have a slight chance of lighting saad up early for a TKO. Johnson is pretty much 50/50.

I admittedly don't know the fighters all well enough for the most part to give an accurate summation, but I know my first thought at seeing Qawi vs Hearns was (Ooh, that'd be bad for Tommy)

So I'm with you on that for sure.

Yeah, his granite chin. I think a mistake people make with Tommy at 175 is looking at the older more fragile version. Andries wasn't a great fighter but he was a cinderblock and Tommy bounced him off the canvas like a basketball. He should have never went back down. He was lightning fast and powerful.

All 4 would kill Thomas within 8 rounds, and Johnson would be the best for him.

Hearns was a great fighter.
But he showed that a brute guy,big strong like Kinchen and Barkley that could take a punch was against him.
I agree with everyone else and think his best bet would be Johnson who would probably beat him but was the less durable of the 4.So thinking now ,Hearns may beat him in a decision if he could use his reach and speed.

Each would beat Hearns with no problem but Spinks would hurt him bad.
