Re: Saudi Arabia to Host Andy Ruiz vs. Anthony Joshua 2?
Saudi Arabia is one of the most corrupt and repressive states in the world. It's run by a family of despots in cahoots with religious zealots to keep the population in check.

But they're rich and pay their way to respectability.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑15 Aug 2019, 05:04 Saudi Arabia is one of the most corrupt and repressive states in the world. It's run by a family of despots in cahoots with religious zealots to keep the population in check.
I wonder what the difference is between Cardiff gate money and PPV money and this money ?

Probably quite a big difference as the gate money in the UK isn't that large in the grand scheme of things. Ie you can have 12000 on attendance in Vegas and generate more money than the 90000 in attendance at Wembley for aj Vs klit

Ruiz is saying the fight will happen but only in the US, be interesting to see how this pans out. Could just be an angle for some of that head choppin money or maybe they really don’t want to fight out there.

Don't matter what the contract says, if Ruiz refuses to fight, Hearns will have to sue and that puts things on ice for a year, and I'm sure Ruiz could make some defences in that time.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑15 Aug 2019, 08:36 https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.inde ... html%3famp

Ruiz has the belts and the backing, he has the power.

Re: Saudi Arabia to Host Andy Ruiz vs. Anthony Joshua 2?
anyone else wonder if Hearn has tried to arrange it in fvcking Saudi exactly because it's something Ruiz would likely want to/ be almost certain to refuse?
Re: Saudi Arabia to Host Andy Ruiz vs. Anthony Joshua 2?
I have considered that.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑15 Aug 2019, 09:19 anyone else wonder if Hearn has tried to arrange it in fvcking Saudi exactly because it's something Ruiz would likely want to/ be almost certain to refuse?
If Ruiz refuses the rematch that he technically already signed up for them he would find himself in a huge legal battle and possibly be unable to fight anyone for a year or more.
In that time he loses at least two belts, IBF (Pulev) and WBO (Usyk) both have mandatories lined up.
If that happens, I could see Joshua vs Whyte in an eliminator towards the end of this year.
Re: Saudi Arabia to Host Andy Ruiz vs. Anthony Joshua 2?
He wouldn’t be allowed to fight - he would end up tied up in legal wrangling for year (+) he’d end up stripped by then.Coco wrote: ↑15 Aug 2019, 09:00Don't matter what the contract says, if Ruiz refuses to fight, Hearns will have to sue and that puts things on ice for a year, and I'm sure Ruiz could make some defences in that time.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑15 Aug 2019, 08:36 https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.inde ... html%3famp

Rahman done it with Lewis and lost - it’s legally binding deal.

christ, but i would fvcking HATE that. i've never liked Hearn, but the more i think about it the more this farcical Saudi situation seems to be intended to engineer a situation where Ruiz refuses it and gets tied up in legal sh1t, losing belts and allowing grinning, smug pudendum eddie to get belts back in the merry-go-round between his own fighters.keirw wrote: ↑15 Aug 2019, 09:28I have considered that.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑15 Aug 2019, 09:19 anyone else wonder if Hearn has tried to arrange it in fvcking Saudi exactly because it's something Ruiz would likely want to/ be almost certain to refuse?

Re: Saudi Arabia to Host Andy Ruiz vs. Anthony Joshua 2?
, If Ruiz was to disagree to the fight , I hope Hearns goes to court , ties him up in court for yonks and pushes for the various bodies to strip him , He got offered the fight and was glad of it when he took it , even this one has suprised me , i thought AJ would push for the home advantage , and given he's not WHY THE FOOK would he want to give Ruiz the home advantage .
Re: Saudi Arabia to Host Andy Ruiz vs. Anthony Joshua 2?
Its not farcical at all ,, It will probably pull more money and no doubt Ruiz will benefit , if he goes through with it , and its a neutral ground , so considering Ruiz ,,, SIGNED the rematch clause for a set amount and a venue he has no say in ,, This scenario is perfect for him , he's gonna get more than he signed for and its a neatral venue , what more could he want ,,Counter-puncher wrote: ↑15 Aug 2019, 10:05christ, but i would fvcking HATE that. i've never liked Hearn, but the more i think about it the more this farcical Saudi situation seems to be intended to engineer a situation where Ruiz refuses it and gets tied up in legal sh1t, losing belts and allowing grinning, smug pudendum eddie to get belts back in the merry-go-round between his own fighters.keirw wrote: ↑15 Aug 2019, 09:28

Because he's NEVER gona get the fight in Mexico

I don't hate Hearn like a lot of people and I do hope that the rematch takes place.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑15 Aug 2019, 10:05christ, but i would fvcking HATE that. i've never liked Hearn, but the more i think about it the more this farcical Saudi situation seems to be intended to engineer a situation where Ruiz refuses it and gets tied up in legal sh1t, losing belts and allowing grinning, smug pudendum eddie to get belts back in the merry-go-round between his own fighters.keirw wrote: ↑15 Aug 2019, 09:28

But one would have to be naive to think that he hasn't already planned how to get those belts back to Matchroom if either Joshua loses the rematch or if the rematch doesn't happen.
A crack team of lawyers and a good relationship with a few governing bodies are probably just as likely to do the job as Joshua's fists are.

is there proof or indication anywhere that Ruiz will definitely benefit?coneye wrote: ↑15 Aug 2019, 10:11Its not farcical at all ,, It will probably pull more money and no doubt Ruiz will benefit , if he goes through with it , and its a neutral ground , so considering Ruiz ,,, SIGNED the rematch clause for a set amount and a venue he has no say in ,, This scenario is perfect for him , he's gonna get more than he signed for and its a neatral venue , what more could he want ,,Counter-puncher wrote: ↑15 Aug 2019, 10:05

any sporting event in Saudi is a fvcking farce IMO, they've got no sporting culture at all and they are simply holding sporting events for a display pf wealth and power, like some tinpot oil-rich dictator from some country ending 'Stan' flying Celine Dion over for a few £million to sing for their birthday, its a sick farce and a charade where they try to pretend they're cultured and hospitable and well-adjusted, they're not, they're medieval, backward bigoted pudenda.
Re: Saudi Arabia to Host Andy Ruiz vs. Anthony Joshua 2?
Who could stop him fighting? If a court in one country blocks it, he could just fight in another country.
No court in Mexico will stop him from fighting.
Re: Saudi Arabia to Host Andy Ruiz vs. Anthony Joshua 2?
The diff with Rahman is that he didn't want to fight Lewis. Ruiz says the rematch is on, just the location is an issue.
Re: Saudi Arabia to Host Andy Ruiz vs. Anthony Joshua 2?
I see his first defence in Mexico against David Price

None of us know the details of the contract, so I won't comment on anything Hearn says except that there is a rematch clause which both parties acknowledged already.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑15 Aug 2019, 12:32According to Hearn, the contract, Ruiz has no say in the venue.

Frankly, it's only a cautionary level except for some border areas far from the fight sight.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑19 Aug 2019, 15:05It’s the same threat level as the UKMasterG wrote: ↑19 Aug 2019, 14:55 Interesting article in the Sun and on Talksport today.

The US State Department only rates Saudi as a 2 out of 4 travel threat, same as UK, Germany, France, Mexico, etc...I wouldn't be going to them to support not fighting there.

Wtf was this a Loma vs Luke thread lol
Re: Saudi Arabia to Host Andy Ruiz vs. Anthony Joshua 2?
So no problem with the WWE keep going there then ? They are doing another show in November before the AJ rematch , it seems that Ruiz is out to dodge this. Still wonder why this was announced before it was locked tight contractually
