Oleksandr Usyk vs. Carlos Takam - OFF
Oleksandr Usyk will be making his much anticipated heavyweight debut this year after all.
The 2018 BWAA Fighter of the Year and unbeaten former undisputed cruiserweight champion will be moving up to heavyweight to fight Carlos Takam on Oct. 12 at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, a source informed of the fight told BS.com. The matchup will be officially announced later this week.
Usyk suffered a torn right biceps injury in May just days before his originally scheduled May 25 affair with Takam (36-5-1, 28 knockouts) that led to a postponement of his first foray into the heavyweight division.

The date for the heavyweight debut of unbeaten former undisputed cruiserweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk will be Oct. 12 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, a source with knowledge of the plans, which haven’t been finalized, told ESPN. Usyk, who will headline the Matchroom Boxing card on DAZN, likely will still face Takam, a former world title challenger, whom he was scheduled to fight on May 25 before suffering a biceps injury that caused the fight to be called off. Usyk is already a mandatory challenger for the winner of the heavyweight world title rematch between unified titlist Andy Ruiz Jr. and Anthony Joshua, who are due to fight later in the fall.

Excellent. I just asked when he will be fighting on another thread. Will he completely sweep clean the heavyweight division? I don't know. There could be some great exciting matchups. I'm assuming he'll walk through Takam.

Quicker than AJ and Chisora did.

FYI the Takam by Decision vote was mistakenly by me.
Usyk by Decision.
Usyk by Decision.

Usyk by Decision. Don't see a KO/TKO.

This will be a rout. Usyk will sweep Takam away by effective, swift, masterful attacks.

Wrong! Usyk will win by stumbling, uncoordinated "drunken master" style attacks and dirty boxing!sturm vogel wrote: ↑12 Aug 2019, 22:38 This will be a rout. Usyk will sweep Takam away by effective, swift, masterful attacks.

Apparently this fight is now uncertain as Takam has signed to a new promoter.
Price to stand in?

He should just stay and be used by Matchroom.
I have to say, without Matchroom he'd instantly become irrelevant in the division. There are too many younger guys coming up, he's old and he's lost a few meaningful fights lately. Matchroom can give him big names that not many other promoters can, definitely not Star Boxing.

Lost interest in Takam, recycled fella. What I'd most be interested in is one of the green young guys fighting him---Dub, Hrg, etc.
