You’d think so. Even 8/15 Kov for the win seems generous. It’s such a intriguing fight it’s hard what to make of the prices.

Re: Betting thread
Yeah it’s a strange one, I’ve said Kov by ko from day 1 but saw a video yesterday of Kov on the bag looking pretty poor and having to be encouraged by McGirt to finish the round, could be staged but still put me offShadrachSimmo wrote: ↑15 Aug 2019, 16:22You’d think so. Re: Betting thread
Isn't Kov back in trouble by doing something stupid with yet another woman? That guy has some real female problems.
Not a fight I would bet on. Kov has been living on a knife edge for awhile now. Who knows what he'll be like fight time.

Re: Betting thread
Farooq 18/1 to win in rds 10-12 v Winters at Bet365. Worth a small punt imo.
Re: Betting thread
Odds for Kovalev to win looks good to me.
I would not bet on Povetkin vs Hughie. Tough one to call. Depends entirely on how much Povetkin has left.

Re: Betting thread
A lot saying Kov is a pisshead and not living the life, he just bashed up Alvarez in the rematch when many were writing him off. Evens about the KO seems value to me
Re: Betting thread
Think Kov-yarde is a fascinating betting heat. Based on their records and the venue you could expect Kovalev to be a very short price. I'm an odds compiler for a living and would have opened up much shorter than the current price of 4/7 and tellingly he is nearly 4/6 on Betfair. Pretty much irrespective to win somewhere like Chelyabink Yarde will need to be world class. Many pundits are suggesting it would be as good a result as any seen by a British boxer abroad. That doesn't suggest a 6/4 shot. Seems to be that unless the market knows something about Kovalev then really he should be closer to a 1/3 shot. Part of me hopes Yarde will live up to the hype but he is priced like a serious world level fighter and unless you are certain of that then Kovalev is a very solid bet.

I though it would be a lot wider too.Stuartd75 wrote: ↑19 Aug 2019, 19:01 Think Kov-yarde is a fascinating betting heat. Yarde is so untested, what are people seeing?
Sure, the guy has power, and you have to give him a puncher's chance. But levels

Kov's had some drunken press recently . ...
Re: Betting thread
I'm planning on leaving the Kovalev fight, he's joked many times in his career that his age is much older (almost certainly he's longer in tooth than 36 years old), and the recent airplane antics don't fill me with confidence. He's been one of my favourite fighters to watch but I can't help but feel he lost a little something after the first Ward fight (he should have won). He's also had his share of in ring tragedy and getting to the end of his career against a hungry young puncher doesn't make him a bullet proof odds on shot to lump on IMHO.

Your ‘levels’ statement is based on a load of other fighters on Yarde’s ledger though, people he has or hasn’t fought. Not on Yarde’s skills himself.KiwiRider wrote: ↑19 Aug 2019, 20:36I though it would be a lot wider too.Stuartd75 wrote: ↑19 Aug 2019, 19:01 Think Kov-yarde is a fascinating betting heat. You can’t judge the level of a fighter based off random other fighters. Based on what we know Yarde is talented and very skilled. He has a good artillery, is poised and relaxed with great reflexes, speed and power. You don’t need a murderer’s row of opponents to see that all this is true. The question marks remain about how he’ll react when he’s hit back. But just because he hasn’t proved himself yet doesn’t mean he’s incapable of it.
That’s what the market is seeing.

I agree here there's been plenty of time of when prospect with no real resume has defeated a more experience champ. There is a difference here most of those guys has some type of amateur background with Yarde doesn't have to fall back on.Riddick Blowe wrote: ↑20 Aug 2019, 06:39Your ‘levels’ statement is based on a load of other fighters on Yarde’s ledger though, people he has or hasn’t fought. Re: Betting thread
Interesting that quite a lot of sharp money come for Kovalev today.
Re: Betting thread
Last minute bet: Sergey Kovalev/Anthony Yarde Under 8½ (-127) $127.00 for $100.00
Re: Betting thread
During round 8, Live In-Play: Sergey Kovalev Points Victory (-101) ~$220.00 for ~$217.82
Re: Betting thread
Interesting bet that.. Not sure I'd have been brave enough to make it but bets like this on play when fighter who basically can't lose on points gets rocked are amongst the best value bets in all of sports betting imo

Re: Betting thread
Betfair/Paddy Power have Kov 9/2 to beat Canelo and Skybet have Kov 10/3
Do people really think he's looked that bad??
Seem like bizarre lines.

I agree, bizarre. Thought I was missing something. Kovalev looked sharp and dangerous still, with great workrate. Is Canelo really going to be able to dodge that jab all night?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑26 Aug 2019, 17:19 Betfair/Paddy Power have Kov 9/2 to beat Canelo and Skybet have Kov 10/3

Re: Betting thread
Think it's priced with money flow in mind especially in Vegas/states the money will all one way. Agree it seems decent value.
Re: Betting thread
Think we’re gonna see a couple of surprise results this weekend so just gonna have a couple of quid on an acca, I’ve got-
Buatsi points
Loma 7-12
Edwards points
Povetkin ko
Pays around 87-1

Re: Betting thread
Buatsi overs is worth a play as is Buatsi 6-10 @ 2/1, I think Buatsi points @ 5/1 is a good shout as a single for the cash out if it begins to go rounds which I think it will.
Agree and Loma and Edwards, staying away from Povetkin-Fury, part of me think Fury will sneak his way to a points win which is a decent price but I'm passing on that fight.
Frank Sanchez Faure under 4.5 opened up at a great price of 1.86, then was bet down as I went to place, but Sanchez-Faure 1-3 @ 1.9 vs a roadsweeper looks good to me.
Re: Betting thread
I made bit of cash with Kovalev. Yarde actually showed in the fight that it was not as much of free money than what I thought
I would not bet on Kovalev against Canelo. Canelo always has all the advantages. Hes team would not make the fight if they were not pretty damn sure that they have the edge in that one. I am getting flashbacks from the Ward fight.
