AJ on Lennox Lewis?
AJ on Lennox Lewis?
All this thing with Lennox Lewis and Anthony Joshua has got me thinking, now LL is giving his opinions on questions asked to him about AJ same as he gets asked about Wilder and Fury and they never get butt hurt but AJ all of a sudden cant take people giving an honest opinion. Imagine years ago Holmes or Tyson getting butt hurt about thing Ali used to say about them? I remember a clip when Ali was saying something about Tyson and not once did i hear Mike Tyson call him but here we have AJ saying Lennox Lewis is a clown and isnt cut from the same cloth as him? Yes he is right they arnt cut from the same cloth cause Lennox Lewis is cut drim better cloth than AJ. AJ needs to realise his level within the history of the division and have respect for the greats of the sports opinions. I watched the AJ's interview and he has respect for people he has never met in the ghetto's of Nigeria opinion but doesnt have respect for Lennox Lewis? Lewis would of made easy work of AJ if they fought prime for prime, even if the Lewis trained by pepe correa would of blasted AJ out within 4 rounds. AJ has gone down in my estimation with this episode of trash talk tbh.

Lewis has said a lot of negative/disrespectful stuff about AJ over the years.

I suspect Lennox just knows Joshua isn't that good, and it bugs him he gets hyped up so much.

Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
Lennox wasn't accepted by the British fans really until the end of his career when they began to realize how special he was, he wouldn't have filled stadiums like Joshua does ,however he is a much better overall fighter than Joshua.polecateddy wrote: ↑17 Aug 2019, 12:09 I suspect Lennox just knows Joshua isn't that good, and it bugs him he gets hyped up so much.

Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
There should be no comparison between the 2. Joshua is closer to Bruno if we’re comparing British heavyweights.
If he can’t handle criticism now how’s he gonna be if Ruiz does him again

He gets asked a lot of questions about Joshua, but I have never seen him write anything disrespectful about him.
Lennox is one of the greatest heavyweights of all time and always appears very respectful and gentlemanly

Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
I certainly think the Joshua who showed up against Ruiz would have his hands full with Bruno. It probably would have ended up a war of attrition where Bruno's greater mental strength might have prevailed.
Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
I wouldn't read too much into this, I remember Lewis and Fury having a bit of beef a couple years back but it seems to have calmed down recently.
Lewis is far more negative about Joshua than he is Wilder, even though he has said Joshua is a more skilled overall fighter.
Maybe his punditry job with a Haymon affiliated network is part of the reason for that.

Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
I think AJ must surely be feeling the pressure since the Ruiz defeat. Rather than lashing out at Lewis he should take him as an inspiration who bounced back and avenged both his losses...

Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
I liked AJ, but now i will root against him in every fight. I am not going to support someone who states that black race is superior and talks the "g's shit" and calls an ATG champion in Lewis a clown.

Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
He was never disrespectful. Lennox critiqued AJ fairly on several occasions and frankly was spot on. AJ is oversensitive as are his fans.bripez wrote: ↑17 Aug 2019, 12:44Has he? - like what?keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑17 Aug 2019, 12:06

Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
It appears that AJ has that modern person affliction where anyone who constructively criticises him is a 'hater' and jealous. Even tho Lennox beat every man he ever fought and won everything they was to win, effectively cleaning out his division.
Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
I believe there's been some rivalry between them...Lewis seemed to be jealous of AJ's success prior to his loss to Ruiz..I mean this legacy thing..
Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
I wouldn't care less what anyone's team said, I just had that feeling considering AJ had been very successful prior to his loss..

To be fair to AJ, Lewis is always having a pop at him, he works for his promoters arch enemy, plus it’s nice to see him step out of his fake humble nonsense.
Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
Joshua has always been thin skinned

Exactly this.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑17 Aug 2019, 16:15 To be fair to AJ, Lewis is always having a pop at him, he works for his promoters arch enemy, plus it’s nice to see him step out of his fake humble nonsense.
I get people aren't necessarily interested in the drama that surrounds the politics of the sport, but I'm surprised this has seemingly slipped by so many of the above posters. It was almost happening on a bi-weekly basis at one point, given how often Lewis was just saying negative stuff in the press. At first it was like Lewis is an ATG, he can say his piece, then it was like again and again and again...
A lot of it seems to do with slamming Joshua for not giving into PBC demands on the Wilder fight. Then each time Joshua's team seemingly went beyond Lewis' evaluation of what was a reasonable pay day for Wilder in order to get the fight made, Lewis would move the goal posts in support of whatever new and ever-growing financial demands Wilder's team made. Each time Lewis would be there putting his oar in, solely blaming Joshua for the fight not getting made.
Then when Wilder rejected that massive financial offer from DAZN - which left most fans scratching their head - it was radio silence from Lewis.
Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
Just curious. What did Lewis say about AJ that was 'insulting' and untrue? No one here is quoting anything.Finkel wrote: ↑17 Aug 2019, 17:17Exactly this.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑17 Aug 2019, 16:15 To be fair to AJ, Lewis is always having a pop at him, he works for his promoters arch enemy, plus it’s nice to see him step out of his fake humble nonsense.

Lewis can say what he likes.
He’d whup Joshua, Fury and Wilder over one weekend. Not a single problem with any of them
