AJ on Lennox Lewis?
Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
And another thing on the whinning thin skinned AJ,if he wants to see a lucky punch look at the Lennox Lewis vs Oliver McCall 1 fight, that was a lucky shot or take a look at Hasim Rahman in south africa thats a lucky shot both was one shot and both ended the fight it didnt stun lewis and then him take another 5 rounds of beat down before quitting they one punch fight ending shots so AJ needs to look up what a lucky shot is. Pffft a shot sent from the gods? Is this guy serious lol

That's the sad part. Yes he is serious. He's trying to convince himself.
Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
Thought it was a decent interview.
Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
Joshua's clown comment on Lewis was an honest answer to a question he was asked, something the anti-AJ mob have been saying they wanted for years.
Now you have it you are still digging him out? What do you people want?
It was a very small part of a long and in depth interview. Let's not forget that Fury and his fans(or family, never quite sure) have spent entire evenings laying into Lewis on Twitter.
I agree the 'lucky punch' line is wrong, but that left hook to the top of the head did turn the fight around and Joshua did try to fight himself back into the fight right up until his body just gave up on him.
Honestly, would it have been better if he went down from that left hook in the 3rd and not get back up?

AJ is making a total bell-end of himself.

Bruno is massively underrated these days, he fought in a era of legends. If he were in his prime now he would probably be the second best heavy weight in the division.polecateddy wrote: ↑17 Aug 2019, 12:47 I certainly think the Joshua who showed up against Ruiz would have his hands full with Bruno. It probably would have ended up a war of attrition where Bruno's greater mental strength might have prevailed.

Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
Surely it’s impossible to throw a lucky punch? You throw a punch with serious intent and it lands, what’s lucky about that?thechump wrote: ↑17 Aug 2019, 23:39 And another thing on the whinning thin skinned AJ,if he wants to see a lucky punch look at the Lennox Lewis vs Oliver McCall 1 fight, that was a lucky shot or take a look at Hasim Rahman in south africa thats a lucky shot both was one shot and both ended the fight it didnt stun lewis and then him take another 5 rounds of beat down before quitting they one punch fight ending shots so AJ needs to look up what a lucky shot is. Of course I get what people mean by the term but it’s one of them terms that’s never really made any sense to me!

He’d stand a chance against all of them, Fury included.Finn wrote: ↑18 Aug 2019, 07:03Bruno is massively underrated these days, he fought in a era of legends. Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
I know i think exactly the same and have said it for years,if you throw a punch and intend to throw the punch then its not lucky lol. Lennox Lewis did invent the "lucky" punch when he got hit with the over hand right by mcCall in the first fight,i cant remember hearing of a lucky punch until that fighy lol.lillywhite14 wrote: ↑18 Aug 2019, 07:12Surely it’s impossible to throw a lucky punch? Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
With Bruno in 1996, it would have been great to see him take a different route to the fateful second Tyson fight. I think everything went wrong in that fight, especially mentally. With hindsight it would have been great to see him try and reel off a number of defences against beatable B players like Witherspoon (who was ranked in 1996), Golota, Morrison and even Moorer. Steering clear of Lewis, Bowe, Tyson and Holyfield.
Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
Aye, although I read his autobiography and if memory serves me right, Bruno knew he was pretty much done after McCall because of his retina so he went for the big money match.polecateddy wrote: ↑18 Aug 2019, 08:34 With Bruno in 1996, it would have been great to see him take a different route to the fateful second Tyson fight. Yep it said in the book that he knew that was the last time he'd step in a boxing ring, he was worried about even passing the medical because his eyeball would twitch.Noxy wrote: ↑18 Aug 2019, 09:04Aye, although I read his autobiography and if memory serves me right, Bruno knew he was pretty much done after McCall because of his retina so he went for the big money match.polecateddy wrote: ↑18 Aug 2019, 08:34 With Bruno in 1996, it would have been great to see him take a different route to the fateful second Tyson fight. Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
I haven't read that. Sounds like the writing was on the wall then. I think the mental aspect thing came from his trainer, George Francis, who I remember saying in the press Bruno was really flying around a week before the fight, but in that final week seemed to go to pieces. It was big money for anyone to face Tyson, but it hurt his legacy. I think Bruno was a real handful to face for most fighters.
Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
You could tell he was all over the place during the ring walk.
Wild eyed with fear and constantly crossing his chest.
Deserved the final payday though.

Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
Usually the old retired great and the supposed heir apparent don’t get on. The older one usually wants to influence the younger one, who in turn values his independence & wants to find his own way.
Lewis/Joshua, Benn/Froch, etc etc. Normal to have to his kind of tension between fighters of different generations. Think also in slightly diffferent circumstances, as their careers overlapped a little, you had Eubank and Naz as well, who also didn’t get on.
Definitely Joshua sounds like a complete plonker.

Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
But benn praises calzaghe and thinks the world of him,naz and eubank are both egotistic so they are bound to clash, with AJ you would of thought that with him being so humble he could take a couple of negative comments especially from someone like Lennox Lewis who has over 40 years experience in boxing and over 30 years experience as a pro. I just think AJ has crossed the line here big timeAutobarn wrote: ↑19 Aug 2019, 04:55 Usually the old retired great and the supposed heir apparent don’t get on. Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
i think that AJ's 'be humble' attitude has now 'de humbled'.... i think the Ruiz defeat has shook him to his boots. The real AJ is now coming forward. we heard many people saying that the AJ we saw on cam was not real........maybe they were right.
I hope he sorts out his stamina and muscle bulk and gets his belts back as im British and i always support the brit. But i feel Ruiz has his number and 'you cant grow muscles on your chin' line will come to the fore again.

On a sidenote, AJ is looking really tiny physically in his latest interviews.

Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
I have a degree of sympathy for AJ as I think Lennox's comments have ventured into being negative/bringing AJ down territory. I think Lennox as a sports commentator has become a bit like Michael Vaughn; they are both fundamentally good blokes, who were excellent in their chosen field, but they both dine out on their sporting success and don't quite judge things as they are now and their ego's have swollen with age.
That said, I'd advise Joshua to rise above Lennox''s comments and not respond.

Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
I group Froch with Benn due to their all out, give and take, do or die approach. Froch & Benn did have some kind of spat, with Benn taking the side of Groves during the Froch v Groves rivalry.thechump wrote: ↑19 Aug 2019, 05:50But benn praises calzaghe and thinks the world of him,naz and eubank are both egotistic so they are bound to clash, with AJ you would of thought that with him being so humble he could take a couple of negative comments especially from someone like Lennox Lewis who has over 40 years experience in boxing and over 30 years experience as a pro. And Eubank with a Naz due to flamboyance, physical talent over technique and (as you say) insane ego. Obviously Eubank wanted to steal Naz as his protege away from Ingle.
Definitely interesting to hear AJ, this era’s high profile Brit super heavyweight, speaking sincerely & to know what he really thinks of Lennox. I think we all thought the humble thing was a bit of an act.

Re: AJ on Lennox Lewis?
Luck affects pretty much everything in life, boxing is not exempt from the way the outcomes work.. And intention has little to do with it. I can buy a lottery ticket with the intention to win million, that doesn't mean no luck is involved if I win.
