I can understand that. I think my comments were a bit strong. The older I have got, the more sensitive I have become to head head shots and the risk of damage. It didn't seem to register with me at all when I was younger. Now, to quote Tony Bellew, I just want everyone to get home safely. I think Ruiz is a hard night at the office for anyone. Holyfield said that he has the quickest hands of anyone he has faced. And he got hit with some belters from Joshua to get knocked down, and got straight back up and won.
The hardest shots TFKoB took were after he got up from the KD. That was the difference. Almost everyone else on Earth gets stopped before AJ gets clipped. His beard is akin to iron.
You are right. The shots that felled him were huge and then he walked into heavy barrage and it didn't seem to phaze him at all. I have a feeling that Ruiz is going to be Joshua's kryptonite -like Holyfield was to Tyson.

You may be right - Joshua is likely to be way more tentative this time around, which will play into Ruiz' hands.

Joshua is never going to be a counterpuncher, he doesn't have the speed of hand or reflexes for it, so his options in terms of gameplan are pretty limited.

I'd say his best shot is to double and triple the jab up, with not a lot on it, but enough to disrupt Ruiz' rhythmn, and prevent him getting inside, try to frustrate him, and get him to lunge in, and then time him with the right cross and uppercut.

Throwing haymakers is the last thing Joshua should do in the rematch, it leaves him open to combos.

Depends on the opponent (state of the division I guess). He countered Martin really effectively twice, but Martin is rubbish

The most worrying thing for AJ is that it wasn’t some freak stoppage after being hurt, Ruiz stood off and waited for another opportunity. I don’t think he has the boxing brain to box twelve rounds without putting himself in trouble again.

I don’t think Lewis is the clown he claims him to be either, Lewis was a much better boxer, perhaps have a listen to what he’s got to say.

I think being hurt f@cked AJ and he never recovered. I think he can box much better than he did after that, but can he really avoid getting caught and hurt again? He has to avoid a wild exchange like in the one that got him hurt. He was doing well enough before that and his own knockdown was quite nice actually.

In the ring Lennox was far from a clown to be fair. Ten times the boxer Joshua and Ruiz are. He’d beat both on the same night. Throw Fury and Wilder in too for a one night beat em all special!

Outside the ring? He does sometimes come across as a bit of a clown.

Ya, he doesn't express himself well at all, at least from what I've heard of his commentary. I think most fighters I've seen aren't so hot at that. Hopkins stands out---super smart in the ring but you wouldn't guess it if you'd only ever heard him comment on a fight in front of him.

He isn’t a great commentator that is true, Foreman suffered from the same problem.

Foreman was diabolical, loads of ex boxers who commentate or do punditry disprove the theory that you have to have laced on gloves to know what your talking about

..irrespective of which blow exactly hurt AJ this time, fans should certainly pay close attention to these kinds of punches, their frequency, their immediate and accumulative effect as well as their legitimacy:

I can see this fight winding up in America or not happening at all, with legal action commencing and the belts splintering.

I don't know why Hearn announced this fight for Saudi before everything is seemingly agreed, if it goes elsewhere they've had all the bad publicity for nothing

It's looks a legal shot to me, it can be a tough one for fighters to shake off.

It is not dissimilar to the counter left hook in the 3rd which was the beginning of Joshua's demise. That was also a legal shot as far as I am aware.

Contractually Hearn had the right to select the venue for the rematch. This has been checked, so Ruiz really doesn't have the right to protest it. He will of course.

I'm not a boxer, but I always thought the back of the head rule referred to rabbit punches, which this is not.

If it is illegal, Mckracken will be well aware of it and will make a point to bring it up at the rules meeting before the rematch.

Punches behind the ear and punches behind the head are two completely different things.

It depends on what is officially considered back of the head.

If the rules state that it is anything behind the ear is back of the head then Ruiz and numerous other fighters have been getting away with cheating for years.

But if, as I suspect, the rules consider the back of the head to be part of the head that is directly opposite to the face (for want of a better way to describe it) then it is a legal punch.

He certainly does if the fight is in a country which his own government raises safety concerns for travelling US citizens... Arguably this wouldn’t even necessarily amount to a breach of contract by Ruiz.
