Not sure about this logic. It's certainly not agreement. Fundamentally changing a contract is akin to repudiation.sturm vogel wrote: ↑18 Aug 2019, 21:48Good post. I don’t think it’s unreasonable for Team Ruiz Jr. to receive guarantees that a reputable commission will oversee the fight and that there’ll be drug testing also.
Manny did say there might be other issues that need to be addressed, but both of the questions he’s posed are currently their main concerns.
is Ruiz trying to wriggle out of the rematch ???

We have not viewed the contract. But, we know with certainty, that the venue and all the particulars of the re-match could not have been worked out at the time of signing the first contract. If the venue and all the particulars had been agreed upon before, the parties would not have been venue shopping as they have been. That is logical.lazboy wrote: ↑18 Aug 2019, 22:36Not sure about this logic. It's certainly not agreement. What if there was a simply provision that stated Matchroom would take care of the location and/or entire promotion, etc. Also, yes you are correct, we don't have the contract. This is speculative.sturm vogel wrote: ↑18 Aug 2019, 23:10We have not viewed the contract. Re: is Ruiz trying to wriggle out of the rematch ???
Its obvious that Hearn has the right to select the venue in rematch provided by the first fight contract otherwise the rematch clause doesn't makes sense. If not then in case that Ruiz doesn't want to take the rematch he could Just say "okay i can fight for $9M but only in Burundi (or any other Country where it would be very unprofitable for Hearn)"

Exactly, wouldn't make sense to leave that out. Hearn of course would want the control. Makes sense that he has gone ahead and picked a venue because the contract gives him power to do so, otherwise they would still be at the negotiating table.
Re: is Ruiz trying to wriggle out of the rematch ???
..like him or not, like this venue or not, Hearn's reasoning makes a lot of sense..now that the other party is and will be raising these or/and other issues, of course they will, that's what their lawyers are paid for...a contract is a contract, Hearn should stick to his guns...

Handsofstone Thanks. Would give B&I a go if I knew where it was (!) Another thing AJ could do, given his height and reach, would be to develop his left jab more. So long as he tucked his chin in more than at present, he could use it without being too worried about right crosses coming back at him. A good way to discourage shorter faster men like Ruiz, Cooper etc.
