Mike Tyson vs Larry Holmes: What Do You Remember of the Event?
I can't believe that 31 years has gone by. It seemed like if it was just a couple of years ago. What do you remember back then of that fight?

I remember how Holmes dropped like a sack of chit and puked his guts up
Re: Mike Tyson vs Larry Holmes: What Do You Remember of the Event?
Holmes getting his right arm hooked on the ropes attempting to throw a punch and being hit with the finisher. Always wondered if that might have made a difference. Probably not.

Larry Holmes being in a sort of dis-belief what was happening to him in the ring.

Holmes to this day claims he was only given 4 weeks notice for the fight, even though he actually knew he was fighting Tyson months in advance, and was interviewed about it ringside after Tyson/Biggs, in Oct 87!!
Still a game effort by Larry. Can't imagine Foreman ending up stretched on his back like that though.

Where is he claiming he had only 4 weeks to prepare? In Against the Odds it is mentioned he had (at least) a couple of months.overhand_right wrote: ↑21 Aug 2019, 04:11 Holmes to this day claims he was only given 4 weeks notice for the fight, even though he actually knew he was fighting Tyson months in advance, and was interviewed about it ringside after Tyson/Biggs, in Oct 87!!

I thought Mike Tyson had a soewhat look of awe of Holmes during the introductions.
also years later Holmes claimed he was in the process of throwing a left hook ( like the one that knocked out Mike Weaver)\but it got caught on the ropes
which caused him to be knocked out.

Tyson would have ended up on his back against foreman.overhand_right wrote: ↑21 Aug 2019, 04:11 Holmes to this day claims he was only given 4 weeks notice for the fight, even though he actually knew he was fighting Tyson months in advance, and was interviewed about it ringside after Tyson/Biggs, in Oct 87!!
