Sergiy Derevyanchenko’s current status in the sport is probably on a par with the likes of David Lemieux, Martin Murray and Matthew Macklin at the time they fought GGG.

All of those guys were rated just outside the top five of the middleweight division when they faced Golovkin.

The difference now though, is that Gennadiy is on the cusp of turning 38 years of age and he’s on the decline, which makes Derevyanchenko are far more challenging proposition to overcome than the other aforementioned opponents.

Derev looks better, than David Lemieux, Martin Murray and Matthew Macklin, and this is also a factor in addition to Golovkin's age. But for the moment Golovkin is more, than just still there, so I pick GGG to win.

Derevo could get a decision against Jacobs if the fight wasn't in US. He is a top MW. Only Golovkin and Canelo can be confidently put above him.

lol

Son, you try to downsize Derevo's value as a fighter. You said that you'll be shocked if G is gonna fight Derevo and now you say that he's on a par with Macklin. lol You ' re so pathetic.

Why Derevo is not on a par with Jacobs since that fight was so close? :box:

Yup. Derevo is on the same level with Jacobs as their fight suggested. :TU:

True, that could have gone either way. EO is just hatin' and trolling to get some attention. I'm surprised he didn't say that Derevo is on a par with Stevens or Rosado. lol

..to be honest, once Jacobs started playing games with his weight, what I call legal cheating, I don't consider him a MW...

Indeed, Jacobs had a big advantage in weight.

Derev is better than the likes of Lemieux, Murray I think, but still, it's worth pointing out that his best result is losing to Danny Jacobs in a good fight, and that he wasn't exactly so hot vs Culcay. Sergey is a top 10 MW and I am totally fine with this fight ,and think styles will match well, but it's a bit humorous to see certain people loving this yet then trashing the possibility of Canelo vs Kovalev

..I hope this deal with Hearn will give GGG certain flexibilty regarding his future opponents..so that it won't be necessary to chase an ever-elusive doper..

Golovkin landed clean but Canelo has a strong chin. Anyway in that fight we can see that the youth plays a major factor. There was a solid reason why these fights happened when G was 35 and 36 y/o . :TU:

:TU: good point, some boxing fans keep forgetting that GGG was statistically on the decline when he "lost" to prime Canelo..

But Canelo could not beat G, even with that huge advantage of his youth. That says a lot about how good G was/is. Imagine a 30 y/o G vs a 28 y/o Canelo. That gingerboy would get whooped big time. :box:

Yup. Too much 'wise' advantages for Canelo just to beat an old fighter. That sparring session with G must have been very intimidating for Canelo. I don't know why but I have the feeling that karma is gonna do his job and Canelo would loss against someone younger than him at some point of his career.
