And KOd by a jab.
Well, I though there was something David Haye about Yarde, and I was right, but it was Haye from the Carl Thompson fight.

What an effort from the boy, part of the mystique with his trainer guru was the reason he came out that last round, but they should’ve saved him there.
What a fighter is the Russian, what balls from both of them, he should’ve won it in the eighth....that was an incredible turnaround TWICE

Seemed pretty clear to me that Kov won everything but the 7th and 8th, which Yarde wonRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑24 Aug 2019, 15:34 Glad it didn’t go the distance. I would like to know what the cards are like.

Wasn’t a heavy knockdown, but when you’re that shattered.. how can you get up
Kov should keep fighting in Russia. Great support.

So will Tunde say ‘he didn’t follow the system’?
Re: Round-by-Round: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - 24 August 2019
It actually was at the end. Shades of the Watson fight ending. Gutsy performance though from Yarde.
Re: Round-by-Round: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - 24 August 2019
Props to Yarde, limited am and pro experience, went to Russia against a top champ and didn't disgrace himself.
He has earned him and his team life changing money, he prob doesn't need to come back if he doesn't want to.

Brilliant fight. Yarde left all the ring but there was a gulf in boxing class. Yarde's youth and physicallity made it a fight
Kovalev is an brilliant fighter - a rolls royce.

Brave effort from Yarde. Can't help thinking that a little more experience like a competitive 12 rounder for the British and European title might have just made the difference tonight. If his backers knew Yarde was this good why did they wrap him in cotton wool like that?
Re: Round-by-Round: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - 24 August 2019
Needlessly KO'd should never have come out for the 11th, his chance went in the 8th

That was a brilliant but brutal loss for the young lad there, I hope he can bounce back, balls of steel

Hats off to Yarde. No amateur experience and no real grounding in the pro game. A top effort and hopefully made for life now.

Yep, it's rarely seen in boxing, Benn v Watson, Hide v Klit, but it's fair enough. We have to question the wisdom of hardcore weightlifting when these young guys are gassing versus 36 year olds, and morbidly obese opponents.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑24 Aug 2019, 15:36When you’re that shattered, a jab can kill you.overhand_right wrote: ↑24 Aug 2019, 15:34 And KOd by a jab.

Brave from Yarde, but he took a hell of a shellacking in there.
Blew his load going for glory in the 8th and may have stopped him if he had more time.
Kovalevs boxing was a couple of levels above Yarde

One of the light heavyweight greats
Re: Round-by-Round: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - 24 August 2019
Yarde will take a lot from this fight.
His chin was checked, and passed.
He needs to work on a few things, but other than that, I was quite impressed.

History repeats itself. Frank took Piper and Prince east for inevitable losses twenty odd years back. Still doing it.

Stunning balls. Kovalev has still got it. What a fighter. I was absolutely sick when he didn't get the rightful decision against Andre Bored, and the same when he got destroyed to the balls in the rematch.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑24 Aug 2019, 15:34 What an effort from the boy, part of the mystique with his trainer guru was the reason he came out that last round, but they should’ve saved him there.

I really really thought Yarde would do it in that 8th. gutted for him. I was hoping Yarde would throw the jab more. Kovalev just returned the next round like nothing happened.
Not sure how much more ring experience would have helped yarde there, he was beaten by the better guy.
So close though in the 8th.

Absolutely amazing, with hardly any experience, no sparring, padded record, protected ...to turn up with a performance like that, against a champion like that, in such an intimidating place.... amazing
And it was his lack of experience lost him the fight, because If he had paced himself in the eighth, he could well have knocked him out in the next round

Shades of the late Richard Evatt against Junior Jones.
