Enlightened-One wrote: 18 Aug 2019, 09:42 I understand how the "Talent" is useless unless it’s proven…. And "potential" is useless unless it’s fulfilled!” argument applies to Yarde, because at some point or another, any fighter harbouring ambitions to becoming the best in their division has to eventually make a huge step-up in class.

That being said, Yarde's best victory came against Nikola Sjekloca, who was a career super-middleweight that had suffered several defeats to any half-decent world-rated 168lb-er he'd ever faced.

Anthony Yarde’s resume is littered with anonymous names, because not one single opponent he’s ever faced are included in any if the following ratings at 175lbs:

• ESPN/The RING divisional top-ten ratings
• The top-15 ratings of the WBC, WBA, IBF & WBO
• BoxRec top-fifty world ratings
• EBU top-15 European rankings
• Top-ten British ratings (as per Boxing Monthly)

It’s not simply a case of Yarde having lacking experience at world-level, because I’m not so sure he’s proven himself at domestic level against UK opposition.

Simply put, during his 3½ years as being a pro, the Brit hasn’t fought anyone possessing any sort of credibility whatsoever!

Yarde never achieved anything as an amateur either, which is understandable for any fighter that only ever competed in twelve bouts (spanning a five-year period) in the unpaid ranks.

On paper, a fight between Sergey Kovalev and Anthony Yarde, seems to be a complete mismatch!

I'll be shocked if the Brit somehow manages to score the upset. :o
All those words, mostly about random other fighters Yarde fought, and not one about what Yarde actually brings to the table regarding his skills.

You don't seem to understand that the corollary of 'He's a bit green' isn't 'he's definitely going to get knocked out'.
The amount of crap you gave me and other forum posters for correctly predicting the outcome is surely something you must feel embarrassed about? :OhYes:

I wouldn't mind seeing him retire now on a high note. He looks vulnerable these days.

But seriously why do I see Russian fighters hiring American a-holes as trainers? Povetkin did it too and it cost him a lot in his career, and Kovalev's a-hole trainer tonight was anxious to stop the fight after round 8. I don't see any American fighters hiring Russian a-holes to be their trainers.

He was only trying to focus his fighter after a bad round.

And to be fair it worked perfectly

Ya think? I'm afraid he would have thrown in the towel if Kovalev was getting the worst of a it for a few seconds at the beginning of the 9th. He was giving him contradictory advice throughout the fight too.

Easily.
Yeah, the great bodybreaker, like he killed golovkin (twice, both times ultradestructive bodypunishing, ggg begging him "please, stop hurting body so good!" & jacob's "man! Those canelo bodyblows is fo shure cripplin'" bodies... not to forget starved fielding, fvck did he break down that skeleton of rockybody!

Bodyshots look like a chance for Canelo, but he won't use it, if they really meet. Kovalev ain't no Fielding. Golovkin outjabbed Canelo in the 2nd bout. Kovalev can do it as well.

Yarde is beast, but Kovalev is beast tamer. Seemingly past his prime at 36 years of age, with this solid win, time to retire.

Think he'll get like 12-13m for Canelo, time to retire after that

If you’d read the amount of crap I received for predicting a win for Kovalev then you’d understand my gloating.

I received so much criticism from this fellow, with the same guy jumping down the throats of other forum posters for having the sheer audacity to expect the win for the Russian.

Take a look at the posts and you’ll surely appreciate the reason for my gloating. :TU:

Man, those purple bruises on Fielding's body were something else. However, Kovalev is another kind of beast, a rangy jabber one nonetheless, and from another weight-class.

Yarde first got vastly out-jabbed for six rounds, gassed out when it was nearing to the win, then got rag dolled until the end. Better change work mentality, and maybe stop his trainer letting them be so delusional

Gloating over any puck is dull, but yeah, the I picked the favorite let's all suck my dick is particularly boring. Sergi had to dig deep, in Eos defense he's so relentlessly wrong reaffirming a rare correct moment might keep a gun out of his mouth.

Kovalev is a naturally born assassin. Killed another today. Sent that Yarde away in a coffin. Kovalev has destroyed many a career. They don't recover from the beating. Ward went into hiding for a month after their first fight while within hours Kovalev was doing interviews and joking. Put Ward into retirement also. Kovalev is getting older and slower though. One more really big fight is probably all he can take.

The result is as I predicted as well and for the correct reasons. Kovalev took more shots than he needed to probably trying to force the knockout in front of his landsmen. He could have just power-boxed for a win. That Yarde was fresh having never been seriously beaten up before -until now.
