Ha Ha Ha Ha... Cannot believe he has done it again.

If Corrales agrees to fight him at essentially catchweight then I take my hat off to him, but will have no sympathy if he loses (obviously, if he recieves severe damage that will be different).... Sometimes you just have to engage your brain as opposed to pride and finances... This is one of those times.

I can't believe it either! Seems even with his weight being checked at the stages he still can't make it, I recall him saying there was an injury last time which stopped him getting down fully

.....I don't think that was too true then if its happened again.

Damn.

I'll say this, Castillo's body has been crying to go up to 140 since 2002. he said he had to 'cut off an arm', for lazcano. i thought it was dumb to make this at 135. he obviously isn't up to the task of boiling down anymore without killing himself.

Not trying to defend him, as this is a big disappointment

I hope he gets the weight off to keep the fight on! Should be able to drop it off, but in turn what effect will this have on him and could this now swing the fight towards Corrales with a possible weakness getting down for Castillo.

If Castillo loses 5 pounds in 4 hours... which is what Fightnews are saying he will have to do... then that is SO Dangerous.

More dangerous than it being a catchweight contest.... Do the safe thing Nevada... call off the fight.

i don't think this is deliberate, knowing that corrales says he won't go ahead if jlc's over weight AND with the financial penalties that start when he fails to make weight the first time. i just don't think jose luis can boil his big frame down anymore. he looks skeletal already. he'll be dead at the weight if he manages to take off 5 lbs. but that's not happening. seems like they'll either do a non title affair or call it off.

It could end up as a non title afair, which I think would be best and if Castillo can get 2 pounds off, then I think that would be decent enough grounds for the fight. 5 pounds is a lot, I've a feeling it'll pull off non title if he can at least get that off.

i gte the feeling that if this fight goes ahead, castillo's obviously going to be meaty again. and very strong - early. but i doubt he'll be ready for a long fight. jlc would need to finish this early

I also think if Corrales gets through the early rounds with range and more Boxing, he'll caught up on Castillo late on, he's going to have to be drained as he's looking like a solid 140 pounder now. As you said, he'll be strong early again!

Forget the WBC 135 title, this is about the fight!! A catchweight has to take place

yep, Corrales should try & do what R Lopez did, concede the weight as he did vs R Alvarez, put on the best performance of his career, and beat the bigger guy

i think Castillo will kill himself to lose the 2 lbs in 2 hrs then the rest of the weight to get to 135 in the following 2 hrs, and the fight will go ahead

we all wondered about corrales' health, but castillo's could also very much be a huge issue

I reckon it will all come down to Corrales decision, and the warrior that he is, will accept the fight at a catchweight.

I know!! I was soooo looking forward to it, memorys of watching the first mate on streamtv!!

I think you could be right, I have a feeling Corrales will risk the weight to get his chance again, I can't believe the 3rd match is at risk at the moment!

Corrales will be well trained, I have a feeling he'll go with it if its left to him in the end. Good luck Corrales if it does come off

No blame on Corrales here he should not fight a guy who is 5lbs heavier under any circumstances. There is no way Castillo has made any effort there to remove the weight, he could surely lose more than half a pound in a couple of hours. Perhaps he was hoping Corrales would take the non title affair again?

Just back at the hotel and mightily pissed off.

Arum was furious saying that Castillo was a disgrace and should be fined and suspended indefinitely.

I obviously wanted the fight to go ahead but knew that Corrales was sensible to call it off. He gave Castillo the lifeline last time.

They say any unused tickets can get a full refund but i don't know about the situation for discounts if i still attend. Undecided but think i'll give it a miss i do have other things i need to do while i'm over anyway.

At the weigh- in i met Hatton, Sam Peter, Jeff Lacy, Floyd Mayweather Snr, Winky Wright , DeMarcus Corley, Glen McCrory and Adam Smith was relaying the latest updates of info so had a chat with him didn't come across as a twat at all which was a pleasant surprise.

If Castillo is have this much trouble getting barely below the LWelter limit maybe Hatton could find himself in Chico's position if he goes ahead with plans to fight him.
Castillo looked awful too more hollow cheeked than i've ever seen Morales which is saying something and he could hardly walk or keep his head up when he was sitting. So he obviously was punishing his body.

If he's struggling that bad to make weight, it's just poor matchmaking. We are talking about Castillo here, a guy who has fought at 150.

Age isn't helping him, he's been boiling down to make weight now for last few years, it's dangerous for him and his opp. Did you see how scrawny his face looked at weigh in?

He should be fighting at MIN 140. Sure he MAY of been able to make the weight, but could have severe consequences..

The fight should NEVER have been made at 135, it's a joke.

Although I'm pissed that the fight didn't come off, which I was looking forward to, perhaps the most anticapted fight of the year for me. I'm sort of glad they did the right thing and called off the fight...but still GUTTED!

Here's Castillo weighing in at 139.5 for the 2nd time. I've got to go & get something to eat now but i'll try to post more up later.

One interesting little wrinkle was that on both attempts he weighed in 3 times.
With the results 140/140/139.5 each time. Under normal circumstances half a pound would make all the difference.

i agree with you. he was fighting 150-lb non title fights in 2002-3. my guess is that if the WBC hadn't bent over backwards getting him the Lazcano fight, if WBC champ Mayweather hadn't moved up to 140, then Castillo would have.

Right now, it seems Castillo should be struggling like hell to make 140lb title fights

i think we're all tremendously disappointed. but i doubt corrales needs to take any more punishment from Castillo. and JLC obviously just can't get any lighter any more. it was silly of them all to jump into rematches so soon. by not fighting, i guess they live to fight another day

with the WBC losing out on sanctioning fees again, and arum's pissed off comments, makes me wonder how much we'll be seeing of JLC again. i hope a promoter picks him up who'll steer his career at the right weight class
