Will Mayweather allow Davis to face Lomachenko by the end of 2020 ?
What do you think ?
Re: Will Mayweather allow Davis to face Lomachenko by the end of 2020 ?
I think that I can’t fault FMJ’s decision making with GTank, so far. The kid comes from one of the toughest / terrible neighborhoods in the USA. He is fortunate that he is not in prison or worse by now, and I credit FMJ for his share of helping the kid navigate toward a more civilized life.
You can see that GTank has matured as a person. I think that FMJ might put him in with Lomassiah by the end of 2020.

Tank looks the part but is in need of better competition before taking on Loma. As of now it's too much of a step up.

If Loma gains all the belts at 135, surely Mayweather will try put him in there with him. Risk vs reward is stacked in his favor there.

Re: Will Mayweather allow Davis to face Lomachenko by the end of 2020 ?
What sort of question is that?
Does money, the weight class, the sports governing bodies, the promoters and the TV networks not determine these things?
For example:
Davis/130lbs/Mayweather Promotions/Haymon/Fox/Showtime/Money vs. Lomachenko/135lbs/Top Rank/ESPN/Money
Do you honestly feel that all Floyd Mayweather Jr. has to do is simply click his fingers and everything immediately and perfectly falls into place? FFS!
Re: Will Mayweather allow Davis to face Lomachenko by the end of 2020 ?
I don't know if Mayweather is the sole authority, but no I don't think Davis or any of his people want him fighting Loma by the end of 2020.
Re: Will Mayweather allow Davis to face Lomachenko by the end of 2020 ?
..obviously Mayweather is not the ultimate authority but has enough influence to delay it..
Re: Will Mayweather allow Davis to face Lomachenko by the end of 2020 ?
If FMJ says NO - there is no fight (99%)
If FMJ says YES - the fight will happen (80%).............

Just look at Tank's defences.
He isn't even close to fighting on Loma's last two opponents level.
Let alone Loma.
I just don't think they will risk it until Loma is at leat 35. Maybe not even then.
And why should they?
Tank makes plenty doing what he does right now. I'm sure they can keep dredging up victims who look good on paper on first glance.

Found some rumors about Davis vacating titles and moving up to 135
Re: Will Mayweather allow Davis to face Lomachenko by the end of 2020 ?
Davis will already have been beaten by somebody not named Loma by then.KiwiRider wrote: ↑01 Sep 2019, 15:20 Just look at Tank's defences.

Maybe. He does seem to be very carefully matched and there are plenty more guys for him to knock over safely.

Really weak in and around that weight with pbc. That's it more than anything.KiwiRider wrote: ↑01 Sep 2019, 15:20 Just look at Tank's defences.

Re: Will Mayweather allow Davis to face Lomachenko by the end of 2020 ?
Floyd Mayweather Jr. has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the welterweight division or the nature of Bob Arum’s constant criticism of Al Haymon, but we don’t see a Top Rank/ESPN guy like Terence Crawford facing the likes of PBC/Showtime/Fox guys Spence Jr., Pacquiao, Thurman, Porter, Danny Garcia, Mikey Garcia etc.
Seriously! It seems that most people would prefer to blatantly ignore real-world facts, in preference of spouting all sorts of fictional derogatory nonsense over someone who significantly less influence over the Lomachenko-Davis situation that you’ve dishonestly assumed!
I find it hugely amusing to see ignorantly naïve people wholeheartedly believing that money, the weight class, the sports’ governing bodies, the promoters and the TV networks aren’t in complete control over this situation! FFS!

Re: Will Mayweather allow Davis to face Lomachenko by the end of 2020 ?
Davis is in no rush and has plenty of options unless someone throws money at it.
Re: Will Mayweather allow Davis to face Lomachenko by the end of 2020 ?
Unless serious money is on offer i doubt the fight will happen. Mayweather is part of his team and he isn't foolish when waiting for the right oppourtunity for a fight, a loss means less money and fighting the best of a division when he may be retiring in the near future seems pointless.
Lomachenko is already looking at unifying the division then calling it a career. Despite being something that's often heard and rarely backed up, i think it might stick if he wins the IBF title before the end of 2020.
*multiple time olympic champion
*one the fastest in the history of the sport to win a world title
*Multiple weight world champion
*Beaten the best of each weight class on his way up
*beaten arguably the best of another weight class
*Unifying the lightweight division and becoming an undisputed champion
What else would he have to prove when he's been competing for years at both amateur and professional levels.
Once Lomachenko retires Davis would have the first shot at any of the vacted world titles his team could negotiate for and potentially have an even easier time picking the right opponent for him to compete against.

Loma should at least fight one of Tank, Berchelt, or Garcia before retiring, even if he does beat Teo or Commey next to become undisputed. I think Tank or Mikey are very hard to make, but Berchelt is also with TR so it could be easily made.
Haney will likely be his WBC mandatory but I get the sense Loma will fight for the undisputed first and then maybe drop the belts if he wins
