Barry Hearn disses Loma & Campbell

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Hearn told IFL tv, "A great effort [from Campbell]. I didn't have the gap anywhere near as wide as [the judges], I thought Luke lost four rounds maximum, I thought he boxed brilliantly, perhaps didn't go for gold enough."

"I was slightly disappointed with Lomachenko, to be honest. We've built him up as this superstar, but I can't put him in the same category as the superstars of yesteryear on that performance.

"A great fighter, obviously, but we can't mention him in the same breath as some of the all-time greats yet.

"I wasn't particularly impressed. I thought he had Campbell hurt a few times, he didn't finish the job. I thought he coasted a few rounds, I didn't see him look the dynamic fighter we've built ourselves up to believe he is.

"He's obviously very good, but we're talking about legendary status and that wasn't a legendary status type of fight."

Cheers. I'll go and apply now.

But in all seriousness.. I feel he's just dissed them both.

Saying Campbell put in a great effort and lost anyway and then saying Loma wasn't what he's built to be. Rounds 2 to 6, he was amazing.

So saying he wasn't impressed with Loma, but then despite Campbell's great effort, he still couldn't win?

He said "I thought Luke lost four rounds maximum."

Unless I heard wrong, maybe it was won 4 rounds max. Because If Luke lost 4 rounds max, then he won 8 rounds manx and won..

Bazza is irrelevant. Dosnt know his arse from his elbow anymore. Fails to realize Loma is a blown up featherweight forced himself to move up 2 divisions to find competitive fights. Campbell is a huge lightweight and was convincingly beaten. People are giving Campbell alot of credit for surviving which i just dont get.

Loma looks at his best when in close, stepping round and changing the angles.

Luke didn't let him get close enough, often enough so he was in no man's land for a lot of the fight.

Don’t you just love it when a smarmy prick promoter criticises the people who are actually taking the punches

What nice words. I wouldn’t be hurrying back if I was Lomo and be confused and wary if I was in the Matchroom stable.

makes a change from the SKY hype , Matthew Macklin saying " Loma is possibly the best ever"

hes got a long way to go and much more top fights needed to be up there with Pacquio / Mayweather even for recent times.

I kind of agree Lomachenko was very good but did he make me sit up and think id watched an absolute all time great ?no he never.
Some of his other fights I thought he looked really really special this one if you didnt know Lomas rep before and just watched that fight I really dont beleive people would be raving the way they were.

I agree with a lot of what he says, although it's total nonsense to say Campbell lost 4 rounds at most, Loma wasn't impressive to me but he clearly won

Loma is very good but not special at lightweight. He is more tentative and waits around more. He backs off even when he's hurt someone. He could probably still make 126

..the old man should know that not every fight is a career-defining fight...winning almost every round against a quality boxer and an Olympic champ to boot is an achievement in itself...

I have little double that Mikey and Tank would beat him. I'd also take Lopez. Loma isn't as good as people think. I'll be happy to bet against him against Tank or Teofimo Lopez. Devin Haney would beat him too.

I think he meant campbell lost by 4 rounds tbh works out maybe 8 to 4 or 7.4.1 with 10.8 round,Which is something else i could see because i had campbell winning maybe 4 rounds and so did a lot of other people including the american commentary of Ward and Bradly(was it bradley?) who had it closer than skys commentary

I thought it was closer than the judges had it , Loma won , no dobt about that but it was'nt clear cut and discisive every rnd , Loma had some real clear rnds obviously , but most were close and Cmbell won a few ,. Cambell was a lot better than i thought , and Loma was'nt has great has i thought , really enjoyed the fight , it did show jinks in Lomas armor and that only opens the door for more good fights , .

I think Loma is just like GGG getting a bit older and lost that absolute sparkle , that made us all thing P4P

Barry Hearn is bitter because he lost his golden goose. He should just shut up and go away. Loma wasn't extraordinary but he clearly won that fight and rather convincingly.
