First fight was excellent. Hurd was relentless and Williams had an answer for everything. Williams has been superbly well schooled and could be the most improved fighter in boxing. I expect great things of him, if the last fight is anything to go by.

Julian Williams and Jarrett Hurd are ready to run it back—and end the year with a bang.
A rematch to the leading contender for the 2019 Fight of the Year is tabbed to headline a December 14 show at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, multiple sources have informed BS.com.
The date is currently reserved for the year-end edition of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on Fox, which hosted their memorable unified 154-pound title fight in May where Williams became a divisional champ on his second try.
In agreeing to multiple concessions going into the first fight, the one thing Williams asked for in return was extended random drug testing to which Hurd agreed. Since then, Williams and Edwards have been vocal in demanding all future opponents must commit to no less than a 90-day window of pre-fight random drug testing.
As it relates to this bout, it would mean a firm enrollment date in place by no later than September 14.
There were also hopes on the Williams side for a long overdue Philly homecoming fight. However, such plans for now are out of the question due to an existing agreement which named Barclays as the exclusive venue for all PBC events taking place on the East Coast.
It’s good enough for Williams and his supporters, who only have to travel two hours north for his first title defense—and a a sequel that can perhaps outdo the incredible original.

In their first fight, Willams seemed to be always one step ahead of Hurd. I really do not know what can Hurd do different in rematch, but im cheering for him. He is one of my favorite fighters

Jarrett Hurd doesn’t want his rematch with Julian Williams just yet.
BS.com has learned through multiple sources that Hurd has decided he won’t fight Williams next. Their immediate rematch, to which Williams is contractually obliged, had tentatively been scheduled to headline a FOX broadcast December 14 from Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Williams still might fight that night, though a replacement for Hurd hasn’t been solidified. The Williams-Hurd winner was supposed to fight whomever wins the upcoming Jermell Charlo-Tony Harrison rematch in their subsequent bout, thus Hurd’s withdrawal could complicate that plan.
Hurd has parted ways with career-long trainer, Ernesto Rodriguez, since Williams upset him May 11 to win the IBF, IBO and WBA 154-pound titles. The 6-feet-1 Hurd, one of the bigger boxers within his division, also is unsure if he will continue competing at 154 pounds.
If the Accokeek, Maryland, native moves up to middleweight, his rematch with Williams might never happen.

Just dont like the matchup for Hurd. Williams is strong as an ox and doesnt let Hurd bully him which is how Hurd beats pretty much everyone, by being the stronger bully. If he cant bully Williams, and I dont see why that would change this time, it comes down to who has the better skills and speed, both of which Williams is better at. Williams wins again.

Now that's up in smokes.
Williams should fight Lara on December instead.

Agree, but being world champion is about that too. You must defeat not only oponents who suits you well, but also those who did not. If Hurd wanna be remembered as world class champion, he must avenge that loss. I am cheering for himdiddy wrote: ↑04 Sep 2019, 14:26 Just dont like the matchup for Hurd. So dodgy that Hurd pulled out.
Was it Harrison asking for 90 day VADA?
Or is Hurd just not confident in beating a smaller, older guy?
Sad news whatever the reason, I really enjoyed the first fight. Hurd struggling with the weight was never mentioned as an issue until now as far as I know.
