Do what it takes to win. Your fans don't pay your bills, and the only thing that matters at the end of it all is whether you won or lost, and how much money you made.

I'd do whatever it took to win, and I can't fault guys who do the same....except for guys like Dirrell who try to take the p*ssy "Please DQ the guy ref" way out.

I mean the accidental, not so accidental headbutts type thing. You see that in a lot of guys. Holyfield and Bradley for instance also did that.

I don't call his style cheating, it's just a rough style.

Orlando Salido was a rough guy too. Rougher than Ward.

Some guys are just a hard night like that in the Pro game. They're gonna push the rules to the limit, and make the referee earn their money. Nothing wrong with that. It ain't ballet.

yes in his fight with ward he got roughed up / low blows / dubious head butts etc

But then to be balanced we would need to look back at other fights to see if frochy did the same - which he probably did !

Obviously cheating, but who even cares any more. Ward was horrible to watch, let’s just be glad he’s gone. Froch should just let it be and be comfortable with the fact legions of boxing fans would have preferred to tune in to his fights rather than Son of Golota’s.

He was rough, borderline even but there was a lot more to his game than that. How else would he have been so successful. He was a prodigy in the ring. To me he won the first Kov fight and all.

Fighters are expected to push the barriers as to what is regarded as being "officially" acceptable. And so Carl Froch's words about Ward's style being “borderline cheating” is completely accurate.

However, it's up to your own personal subjective standards as to whether this is something that you deem as being perfectly reasonable or not.

I don't think it's a hundred percent guaranteed that an Andrey Kovalev would have had referees all up in his face in major fights, taking away points and maybe disqualifying him, but... more likely. Significantly more likely.

Not neccessarily. The bigger the fight; the more the ref gives lattitude in America.
