Indeed. Tony Weeks jumping in at the moment he did he should've been shouting "Ho, ho, ho...that was low, he's got 5 minutes to recover" that whole spiel.
Some fights are just like this. Any time they get brought up it's a discussion, and a bit of an argument breaks out.
Same with JLC vs Mayweather or Hagler vs Leonard. Sh*t like that is why we're fans I guess. Such a multi-faceted, multi-layered sport.![]()
Froch claims that Ward's fighting style is borderline cheating. Do you agree ?

Kovalev could've had 10 minutes to recover. The longer that fight went on, the worse it was going to get for him. Alvarez proved that right after.gilgamesh wrote: ↑07 Sep 2019, 16:48Indeed. I've never denied that he looked like a beaten man, but that doesn't mean he was beaten cleanly. Could've, would've, should've, but didn't.

Blatantly obvious without any other intent than foul full force knocked right in the frikkin family jewels again & again right in front of the ref.
The corrupted motherfvcker waives it off!
Knock out!
you get declared the loser again after you got fucked over the first time around already anyways.....
i mean just fuckin try to imagine that shit. How he kept it professional is beyond me.
I would've fvckin went berserk in ring rightaway and ran amok at the presser afterwards.

Nothing wrong with it, except when the ref is on the payroll too like in Mafia Vegas.
Re: Froch claims that Ward's fighting style is borderline cheating. Do you agree ?
It's pretty clear to me he bent and broke the rules. He actively trained for this grabbing, wrestling, hitting and holding type boxing. Ward however had additional boxing defense talent, general toughness and intelligence. Putting his 'dynamic' or cheating style in combination with his other abilities made him a flat out nightmare to face, plus he was an American icon and never fought out the USA which aided him...referees for instance.
There are certain people that change the game. Ali with his footwork/lateral movement ect and Floyd with his defence first approach. Ward thankfully has not been popular. It's no wonder given his style is seriously ugly and belongs in the UFC. Maybe we would see more of this today in the mainstream if he had proven popular. Thank god we don't.

Ward is an ATG at what he did, similar to Khabib in the UFC; ugly, brutal, efficiency.

X3. For a guy hitting women and having grown up during criminal paradise of 90's in Russia, he is surprisingly too clean in the ring.

You can all act oblivious to your blindered view of that fight, but Kovalev did throw and land low blows in that fight, including a blatant one just before getting clipped.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 12:38X3. yup, beyond any doubt
thanks for making the case even more convincing..

The point is Kovalev had his ass kicked legitimately and there are a whole lot of crybabies in the image of how Kovalev was whining every single time he was hit on the belt.
Meanwhile, the same crybabies ignore Kovalev’s low blows. Why? Because Ward never flinched and kept fighting.
Kovalev was done, running with his hands literally down attempting to avoid Ward’s body attack. He was saved by the ref. He was about to absorb a severe beat down.
That is the reality.

this has been rehashed hundreds of times...my point is well known. Ward has been dirty as hell getting away with it...the video I posted is just another example and proof..ironbeard wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 15:42The point is Kovalev had his ass kicked legitimately and there are a whole lot of crybabies in the image of how Kovalev was whining every single time he was hit on the belt.

Kovalev was just as dirty in the fight, including attempting to fake being hit low and hurt every time Ward landed on his belt line. One of the times he should have had a point taken away for it. He landed borderline low on Ward all fight. He rabbit punched all night. He headlocked all night.greg wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 15:52this has been rehashed hundreds of times...my point is well known. None of you crybabies acknowledge any of that.
Kovalev got his ass whupped by the tougher, stronger, better boxer. He lost the “WAR.”

Re: Froch claims that Ward's fighting style is borderline cheating. Do you agree ?
Just like the Krusher could've/should've KO'd Ward in the 1st fight, but he didn't. Even if you had him winning, it's his fault for even letting Ward back in the fight after having him hurt so early. And Ward was right in that Kovalev didn't look for ways to improve from the first to the 2nd fight. He made excuses why he should've won, while Ward actually looked for ways to make the 2nd fight easier.
Kovalev has no one to blame for having those losses to Ward except himself. And never taking responsibility showed how vulnerable he really was opening him up for Alvarez to demostrate that.
Kovalev lost those fights because he showed he had no mid or inside game and instead of improving upon that, he made excuses, and that's why he will be beaten again.

He did though. Kovalev was being backed up in both fights. He showed that he has no inside nor even mid range game. He was trying to create space to get Ward which he had some success but once Ward figured that out, it was over.greg wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 16:18ironbeard wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 16:07

Under the rules of evidence, a video carries more weight (truth) than still photos. Post a video of Kovalev hitting Ward DIRECTLY on the protective cup and your case will be re-opened and reviewed. Until then, as usual, your case is dismissed. Ward is found guilty of fighting outside of boxing rules.
