Sky Sports boxing schedule

Post by garethhop »

Now into September, and the only Saturday night fight night announced for the new season is Lewis Ritson Vs Robbie Davis Jnr (I like the card by the way).

That and a WBSS pay per view and a Joshua pay per view with some American fights too.

Not great.

Eddie Hearn announced quite a few during recent IFL interview but they haven’t been added to Boxrec schedule so watch this space...

Haney/Eggington in Italy in Sept.
4 in October (Golovkin/Uysk/Ritson/PPV)
3 in November
7th Dec - Joshua and 14th Dec

That’s dates Hearn said the other day was End if Season.

These weren't on their schedule. Is the GGG card going to be PPV?

Unlikely GGG will be PPV as all efforts will be thrown at o2 card at end of Oct and Joshua as the last 2 PPV of the season.

Some of the cards in Nov have still to be announced.

Is the GGG fight definitely on Sky? I heard a rumour it was DAZN only?

The Rolls fight was DAZN only. I read it was a one off thing to see how subs went. But even so, now GGG promotions have gone to bed to Matchroom, so it should definitely be on Sky.

Hearn said that there would be an international fight on the 28th September so thats Avanesyan v Lejarraga or Spence v Porter, if it's not on ITV ppv and he didn't say there was a show on Oct 5th just Oct 4th. Even though Golovkin is working with Matchroom, there's no guarantee that it's on Sky, his last one wasn't.

So to add on to the Ritson/Davies Jnr 'monster', we've now also had confirmed that the other Saturday night fight nights between now and Christmas are:
* Katie Taylor, in Manchester plus Ant Crolla vs TBC
* Possibly Callum Smith on 23 November in a 'stay busy' fight
* A Monaco show with no fights announced
* A NxtGen card

And that's it.

What a disaster the DAZN deal has been for big British fight nights.

Ya, though at least at its expense the international schedule looks really good to end the year

GGG-Derev
Nelo-Kov
JT-Prog
Inoue-Donaire
AJ-Ruiz
I think Estrada-Yafai unification too

Spence Porter is on Sky PPV in my country.
It's $35 (£18) so not too bad.

It’s bloody awful, Adam Smith telling Edward to up the Saturday fight nights and this is what we get. Absolutely muck. I don’t care for five in the morning fights for various reasons. I want prime time Friday Saturday nights. By schedule is muck as well

December will only have no Saturday fight nights, they will have Ruiz/Joshua PPV, MTK show and a NXTGEN.

Given that they do very little in Jan and Feb usually, that is a load of crap. Hearn has such a huge stable yet relies on PPV, JD sports and MTK to put his shows on.
