When Frazier was staying at mid-range and throwing hooks, he didn't stop bobbing and weaving. Norton is regularly attempting the same thing, but he stops bobbing and weaving when he starts slugging it out, his upper body straight, his hands at chest level or lower most of the time. Easy to be hit. There were lots of punchers, who wouldn't miss this chance in 1980s and 1990s.
Joe Frazier's and Ken Norton's results against common opponents are almost identical.
Norton was 35 when he fought Shavers and 37 when he fought Cooney.
Quarry, Garcia (1975 bout) and Stander did not make it past the 5th round against Norton.
Norton lost a close decision to Larry Holmes.
Holmes stopped 11 of his next 12 opponents in title defenses. This went on until well into the magical 1980s decade.
