WBSS Super-Lightweight Final: Josh Taylor vs. Regis Prograis - 26 October 2019
Re: WBSS Super-Lightweight Final: Josh Taylor vs. Regis Prograis - 26 October 2019
This went from a big question mark to the potential UK card of the year.
Selby Burns is a good fight, I think. Won’t be a war but it’ll be good.
Think Parker blitzes Del Boy if he shows up.

Hearn has had a few poor shows this year but this is outstanding. As good a card as I can remember in years

A fantastic fight falls accidentally into the PPV hungry hands of Matchroom and sky, No question it’s one of the fights of the year, but the undercard is typical matchroom hohum whatever. chisora lumbers on and Ricky Burns gets his 75th shot at redemption.
I really like Ricky and Hearn has made a fortune off him, so I hope he’s paying him well because he should be retiring by now, he doesn’t need to take all these punches so late in his hard career.

Well if FW would have paid him and then proceeded to bankrupt him in court he might not still be going.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑01 Sep 2019, 08:39 A fantastic fight falls accidentally into the lap of the PPV hungry hands of Matchroom and sky, No question it’s one of the fights of the year, but the undercard is typical matchroom hohum whatever. chisora lumbers on and Ricky Burns gets his 75th shot at redemption.

Really? Other than the top of the card whats so good about this card?
Confused why Saulerland has given this fight to matchroom. Surely they'd make more money doin the card themselves?

He needs TV.
Previous fights have been on Youtube and probably not made money.
To get a deal with Sky, you HAVE to include Matchroom right now.

Other than the Main Event it wouldn’t be strong enough as a Stand Alone PPV as they don’t have anyone else to make up the card.
Similar to Eubank v Ryder - Ryder accepted weeks ago and is still waiting.

Re: WBSS Super-Lightweight Final: Josh Taylor vs. Regis Prograis - 26 October 2019
I think Taylor's got this one. Josh is expert at making his opponents pay for mistakes and Prograis fully commits and puts everything into his punches, so if he misses Taylor will be there with those sharp counters.
Prograis is the hardest puncher Taylor has faced so that can't be ignored, but McGuigan has guided Taylor perfectly and given him the grounding needed to be ready for whatever comes his way.

Re: WBSS Super-Lightweight Final: Josh Taylor vs. Regis Prograis - 26 October 2019
Prograis said, “I really cannot see how he can beat me. I just can’t. You know, not to be cocky, not to be arrogant, but I can’t see it. Like, he been hurt. He was, you know, his last fight with Baranchyk, he cut him up. I told him after his last fight, ‘You know, you can’t …'"
“What about Postol? Postol hurt him. But anyways, that’s past fights. … It’s gonna be me and him. It’s not gonna be Postol. It’s not gonna be Baranchyk. It’s not gonna be none of my fights. So that’s past fights, and I think he’ll come, he’s definitely gonna bring his ‘A’ game and I’m gonna bring my ‘A’ game. And like I said, this is gonna be one hell of a fight. So, I’m excited to come over here and, you know, this is something I’ve been wanting, you know, for a long time.”
“I know we fighting for the Ali trophy, but I’m not Ali. I can’t say, you know, what round or nothing like that. I’m gonna go out there and I’m gonna do my thing. You know, just like I always say. I just go out there, I have fun, I do my thing and that’s what I’m gonna do. So, far as if I’m gonna hurt him or knock him out, I don’t know. But so far, I’ve been dominating. That’s what I plan to do, you know, October 26th.”

Germany's Abass Baraou added to Prograis-Taylor undercard
German junior middleweight Abass Baraou (7-0, 4 KOs) will make his UK debut on October 26th at The O2 in London when he faces John O’Donnell (33-2, 11 KOs) on the World Boxing Super Series undercard, live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and DAZN in the US. Baraou makes a quick return to the ring following an emphatic second round TKO victory in Dubai over Abdelghani Saber in September, and will be aiming for victory number eight in London against the former Commonwealth and British champion O’Donnell, who enters the ring on the back of nine straight victories. “I’m looking forward to boxing in London after just making my international debut in Dubai,” said Baraou. “Boxing is huge in England and I’m looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere in The 02.
“I am always looking for new challenges and my promoter Team Sauerland make that possible again and again. Since my last fight I’ve gone straight back into camp and there’s nothing in the way of me becoming victorious and defending my title!”
O’Donnell, an experienced contender, who got his first taste of international action on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather’s battle with Oscar De La Hoya at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, believes the time has come too soon for Baraou. “You can’t buy experience. When I boxed in Vegas it was probably a bit too early for me, I think Abass will experience this against me.
“The fans are in for a great fight and I’m absolutely buzzing. I would like to thank MTK, Eddie Hearn, WBSS and Team Sauerland for the opportunity.”
“Fighting on the World Boxing Super Series undercard and on TV worldwide is another opportunity for Abass to showcase his talent,” said promoter Nisse Sauerland. “The British fight fans are some of the best in the world and they will love Abass, he’s slick, quick and has an all action aggressive style.
“We believe he's going to reach the very top of the sport. He has already beaten two former World Champions and we aren't too far from targeting the current World Champions.”
World Boxing Super Series super lightweight finalists Regis Prograis (24-0, 20 KOs) and Josh Taylor (15-0, 12 KOs) headline the huge show at The 02 Arena as both fighters compete for the Ali Trophy, the IBF and WBA world titles and various other trinkets.
On the same show, London favorite Dereck Chisora (31-9, 22 KOs) takes on former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (26-2, 20 KOs), while fellow Londoner Lawrence Okolie (13-0, 10 KOs) looks to add another belt to his collection as he challenges Yves Ngabu (20-0, 14 KOs) for the Belgian’s European Cruiserweight title.
Former champions Ricky Burns (43-7-1, 16 KOs) and Lee Selby (27-2, 9 KOs) meet in an intriguing lightweight clash, whilst young talent Conor Benn (15-0, 10 KOs) continues his education in the paid ranks. All the action from the 02 Arena is available to watch live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and DAZN in the US. Tickets are available online via www.AXS.com.
