Fury v Povetkin betting

Post by MasterG »

I'm sure we remember the betting for the Hughie Fury fight in regards to bet for a stoppage in round 2 where the betting went down to around 6/1 from about 33s before the bet was removed and bookmakers gave refunds.

I wrote to the gambling commission using the 'freedom of information act' chestnut asking how this happened and why.

Here is their reply.

'In your email you have asked for information regarding the removal of the betting and all bets refunded on the boxing match of 31/08/2019 between Hughie Fury v Alexander Povetkin.

Firstly, thank you for the information you have provided. This will be passed on to the relevant departments and considered accordingly. Please note that the Commission does not provide feedback to the public regarding any information we’ve received or enquiries that we might choose to make.

We consider the information you have requested to be exempt under s.31 of the FOIA, the reasoning for which is outlined in the attached document. We are therefore not in a position to confirm or deny whether we hold this information'

Unfortunately the FOI act does not apply in this circumstance so no answers given.

So much for FOI.

It was a strange one. And lose lose for anyone on it. No way any bookie would have paid out had it happened.
