Apparently he's suspended for 2 months!🤔

What is the point in a 2 month suspension?

It's not as if he was going to fight again in two months.

Modern day PPV cash cows are twice a year fighters, so it's unlikely he would even have fought again this decade, cut or no cut.

I wouldn't even recommend he did any sparring for at least close to 4 months. That was a nasty gash, and needs to heal good and fully before he gets back to contact.

Standard for commissions to suspend boxers after a fight, regardless of injuries, but you're right.

We did have that boxer who died recently, I think ht was suspended in Germany, but fought in Argentina in that time, or it was the other way around.

Just imagine guys in the 30's, 40's or 50's era of Boxing who would be cut like that, and then fight again in a few weeks or a month? :o

The time won’t likely matter. If he gets hit on that tissue in the wrong way in the future it will open back up. In fact, given the way it opened in the fight, I suspect that it was old scar tissue reopened.

I had a similar cut in the exact same place deep in a previous millennium. If I take a shot on the button there it opens up to this day.

Of course, I did not get 47 stitches. I strategically applied tight butterfly bandages and went back to work.

Butterfly bandages wouldn't cut it if you had a gash like that...

They did “cut it” and my cut was at least as bad. You just have to know how to utilize them. Of course, I was not in a profession where people punch you in the face for a living, and I was not worried about my appearance. What may have helped, in retrospect, is that my face was skinned off a couple of years prior.

I generally avoid much mirror time.

Difference with that cut and yours , Tysons cut taking 47 stitches would not just be on the outside they would off stictched the inside has well . , I just had a cancer cut out of my neck he said he double stiched it because it was deep , was just has long has Tysons cut so basicly started stitcjhing from the inside , , was about a month ago ,, Guess what , you could'nt even tell , i had the cut , , A good plastice surgeon will have that back to normal no worries ,

...the question here is how long it will take to heal and wouldn't that be sort of an Achilles' heel for the rest of his career...

Because they don't make rules specifically for Fury, that's be stupid. The rules are obviously for everyone

Prospects and journeymen fight often so the suspension is obvious right for cuts

Vitali’s healed fine, and that was worse.

That's a fair argument. Vitali received 60 stitches above the eye after his battle with Lennox Lewis.

I agree. That cut on Vitali was gruesome. Looked like he couldn't even move his eyelid it was so slit.

60 stitches in total all over his face and mouth...fury's cut was longer deeper and wider than Klitschko s..
This fight once again shows the unfairness in boxing... If wallin had that cut they would've stopped it right away...Fury got a gift

I also think the Vitaly cut was worse....for during the fight and after the fight....if it ever got reopened in another fight. I think Fury's cut is more likely to get reopened in a fight though. Vitaly's cut was lower on the under part of the brow. Fury's cut is up much higher. Boxers tend to take more shots to parts of the head the higher you go up. Vitaly's cut was nearly inside the orbital of the eye. Tyson's is more on the solid forehead area. he is going to take a lot more shots on it when he fights so we will definitely get to see how it holds up. Vitaly never did rip back apart like that. Nobody ever really took it to him again on his level though. Fury has several potential opponents all there together with him on the top level. Fury has tough fights ahead to be tested in.

Good advice. I would tell Arum to go F himself if he tries to push him in the ring too soon. Fury is still young.
