How pathetic
How pathetic
Just 3,577 tickets were sold for Tyson Fury's enthralling points victory over Otto Wallin in Las Vegas.
The 'Gypsy King' is bidding to break America and become a cross-over superstar but will be disappointed by the relatively low turnout.
Attendance in T-Mobile Arena was measured at 7,475 but 3,898 of those tickets were given away for free.
Can you imagine how angry you would be if you paid up for a ticket and then they just people in for free to make it look full !
Fury is not an attraction.

No he's not. America hasn't taken to him at all. Top Rank must be regretting this signing.

Re: How pathetic
I think TR had a bunch of money thrown at them by ESPN to sign him, not sure they are losing anything on these. Kinda like Showtime throwing so much at Wilder-Breazeale...it's not the promoter's loss.
Re: How pathetic
Not sure they are losing money either, but it doesn't appear that Fury would draw any views without Wilder/Ruiz/or AJ. I'm sure Uncle Bob thought he would do better.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑25 Sep 2019, 12:49 I think TR had a bunch of money thrown at them by ESPN to sign him, not sure they are losing anything on these. Re: How pathetic
Well, they have a major HW player who can at least be in a big fight with the right opponent. I doubt Arum regrets signing Fury. Maybe ESPN regrets throwing so much cash around for these fights though? I bet Showtime does for Wilder, since now he's going straight to Fox PPV instead.
The HW scene has more overpayment than ever, these networks and streams are just throwing it around.

Wilder? Are we discussing Wilder? LOL!margaret thatcher wrote: ↑25 Sep 2019, 12:55 Well, they have a major HW player who can at least be in a big fight with the right opponent. I'm just relating it to the HW scene in general, it's become the norm to throw around more cash than guys drawing power merits.
OMG WILDER! DEONTAY!

I doubt Bob did. He has a big Disney budget, what he's worried about is fury/wilder. Traditionally that's his ass in the wind.oogiebe wrote: ↑25 Sep 2019, 12:54Not sure they are losing money either, but it doesn't appear that Fury would draw any views without Wilder/Ruiz/or AJ. He should have just fought at a smaller arena.

What kind of views is he drawing on ESPN? I'm sure that's more important to them and top rank versus how many tickets he's selling to the arena.oogiebe wrote: ↑25 Sep 2019, 12:54Not sure they are losing money either, but it doesn't appear that Fury would draw any views without Wilder/Ruiz/or AJ. I'm not even sure that Joshua now could draw in the US after the Ruiz fight.
Re: How pathetic
Gee, I thought it was a pretty small area to begin with. The fact they gave away more seats than they sold is even more disturbing.
The box office take was OK, just under a mil

Re: How pathetic
That’s what they care about. Had the tickets been cheaper he may have had more bums on seats.
It’s like Mayweather, he didn’t always sell out MGM, but the average ticket price for his fights was usually around £1k. Especially the bigger ones.
May-Mac did around 13k at T-Mobile and it was the highest gate at the arena, nowhere near a sell out.
Sometimes we fans focus on the wrong things. Whereas boxers just focus on money.
GGG-Canelo 1 did 1.3m buys
GGG-Canelo 2 did 1.1m buys
Do you know which fight did more in revenue? The rematch. Why? The PPV Price was slightly higher.

Joshua couldn't draw here before that. Unless you're saying thousands of Brits won't follow him anymore. Nobody here knows any of these guys.Nondescript wrote: ↑25 Sep 2019, 14:34What kind of views is he drawing on ESPN? I remember Eddie Hearn saying that Joshua had sold a lot of tickets for that show (outside of just Brits coming over) - I'm guessing he was bullshitting as he has a habit of doing.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑25 Sep 2019, 16:13Joshua couldn't draw here before that. Re: How pathetic
Nice deal.
Re: How pathetic
The main goal for the promotion team is trying to break him more into the mainstream, but that is hard as hell.
And they are spending, might work in the long run or not.
Lets see what happens! Have no clue.

Re: How pathetic
Perhaps if they had put him in the ring against a live body it would've worked. Now that Wallin put a scare into him, we won't see that except Wilder maybe.
Re: How pathetic
They need Wilder that is for sure. A big profile fight, but then again lets see who business works out around that.

Re: How pathetic
I heard it was like 10k Brits traveling. I never cared enough to verify. They all lie about attendance. A heavyweight title fight at the garden will always draw some live bodies, but I doubt dazn got 1k new subscribers for it.Nondescript wrote: ↑25 Sep 2019, 16:21I remember Eddie Hearn saying that Joshua had sold a lot of tickets for that show (outside of just Brits coming over) - I'm guessing he was bullshitting as he has a habit of doing.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑25 Sep 2019, 16:13

Re: How pathetic
Why would anyone buy a ticket knowing that one could get in for free?
Regardless if the tickets were sold or given away, if 7,500 attended the event, that many were attracted to it.
The fight has long since been over and he still has "steve@france's" attention...
