Yes, does seem rather suspicious.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑24 Sep 2019, 08:09Doesn't Bika seem like an overly tough opponent for someone out that long? I'm defo getting the feeling we won't see him turn up full tilt.

Really tough, he might have been retired for two years but he left the game in a much better state than Benn did, Nige could barely take a punch at the end of his career, Bika was still winning fights and has never been stopped.

Baldie in the back looks like a crabby pants, especially at 19 seconds, lighten up and enjoy Frank on the pads mate

Presume he's skint ?
Re: Nigel Benn - Talksport
The fight has been mentioned on BBC Breakfast News this morning and its the first time ive heard BIBA mentioned on the news too. 4 million watching the news this morning has now heard that there is another boxing commission in the UK other than BBBoC.
Sakio has also been mentioned on the news too so this looks like the opponent whom Benn will be fighting.
Incidentally. I wonder if any tv channel will be showing this bill.
Are any of you Boxrec guys thinking of attending this live?

If thats the case Benn wil not be making a million from this fight. I cant see him making more that £30k.

Re: Nigel Benn - Talksport
It seems to me that BIBA will licence anybody with a pulse as long as they pay the licence fee also they will sanction any fight as long as money for them is involved there is a lot of boxers that have had licences withdrawn or refused by the board for whatever reason who BIBA welcome with open arms
I would be very interested to know if anybody has ever been refused a biba licence or is it just a case of pay your money and job done

There desperate , barely sanction 12 shows a year at very low standard with the majority of boxers having license issues with board hence why they're on them , one thing I have noticed is Irish boxer Marty Kayes boxes on all there shows and Lee murtagh plays some part .

of all the opponents they could have gone with.
what a mess.
what a mess.
Re: Nigel Benn - Talksport
Lee murtagh is head of referees does all training courses and referees as well also I believe he holds a promotors licence well at least he used to hold a licence . You have to take your hat off to gianluca being able to convince everyone involved in what is basically white collar stuff to pay licence and sanctioning fees etc the guy is a brilliant marketing manFloyd the snake wrote: ↑25 Sep 2019, 04:57 There desperate , barely sanction 12 shows a year at very low standard with the majority of boxers having license issues with board hence why they're on them , one thing I have noticed is Irish boxer Marty Kayes boxes on all there shows and Lee murtagh plays some part .

Strange then that the prolific social media guy Lee didn't mention the biggest show in BIBA history at Bradford the other week ? Even stranger that head of refs / judges wasn't there and didn't help with PR for the show ?
Re: Nigel Benn - Talksport
I see what you are saying but why should a sportsman be refused to compete IF he completes every test a GP gives him? The BBBoC do not want to take the risk by giving anyone a licence to compete, they arent an organisation who have a chitload of cash. They will not licence purely because they do not want the risk.spudder56 wrote: ↑25 Sep 2019, 04:34 It seems to me that BIBA will licence anybody with a pulse as long as they pay the licence fee also they will sanction any fight as long as money for them is involved there is a lot of boxers that have had licences withdrawn or refused by the board for whatever reason who BIBA welcome with open arms

Im not saying that Nigel Benn should or should not be given the right to fight, he is an adult after all and should have the right to do as he pleases. Benn hasnt gone down the BBBoC route purely because he knows the outcome.
Now im not for one minute sticking up or BIBA but what record do they have in the injury stakes? how many of their boxers have had serious life changing injuries in one of their bouts? How many has the BBBoC had? Of course their is a difference in th eamount of bouts that the BBBoC undertake to how many BIBA do. According to BIBA they have the same medical tests that the BBBoC have.
I dont want to you to think im a pro BIBA fan here, they lost a lot of credibility in my opinion allowing Danny Williams to fight Lee McAllister. If someone has been passed fit by a registered GP then why shouldnt they do what they want or enjoy. I know boxing is the hurt business but Benn is an adult and not insane, medically.

Do you really think a GP is going to pick up subtle changes in brain or nervous system function?
Re: Nigel Benn - Talksport
Ive already mentioned the amount of fights to what BBBoC have. Thats not the issue. The human being is living longer thats a fact, this is because we are medically better than our counterparts 100 years ago. You just cant stop a man from doing something because of his age, IF he is medically of sound mind. Boxing is a hard dangerous sport we all know that but times are changing for the human being. Times have changed for other human beings but im not going down that route.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑25 Sep 2019, 14:20How many bouts have they sanctioned thus far?MasterG wrote: ↑25 Sep 2019, 13:48

Re: Nigel Benn - Talksport
Ok you make some valid points but as the vast majority on here know Nigel benn was a great fighter in his prime years which were nearly 30 years ago he was shot when he wisely called it a day 25 years ago do you think the rest he’s had is going to turn the clock back to put him back in his pomp ? Time waits for no one I just hope Nigel doesn’t get hurtMasterG wrote: ↑25 Sep 2019, 14:24Ive already mentioned the amount of fights to what BBBoC have. Thats not the issue.
