I hope Ortiz KOs Wilder

Post by snake33 »

It would open up the division and Wilder might be forced to be more humble.
Wilder's problem is he is a pompous jerk. BOMB SQUAD isn't motivating for fans,
it's annoying. Let's see if he has the character to make a comeback.
Ortiz almost had him the last time. He can do it.

If it was anyone else besides Ortiz, then yes, I would love someone to clean his clock.
The only reason I don't want it to be Ortiz (and the same applied to Stiverne) is that he is too old to carry on a good run in the division. It needs to be a young guy making a future legacy KO of Wilder. It's better for the sport. There are already too many geezers in the top #30 that need to go. Pulev, Povitkin, Ortiz, Takem etc. Those guys need to pack it in, and let the next wave wash through.
I really want someone to shut Wilder up, but it needs to be someone with a future, not someone on the tail end of a lacklustre career.

I hope Ortiz KOs Wilder

Me too.

Ortiz almost had him the last time.

He needed the house referee and ring doctor (May I see his medical degree, please?) to stop the fight and give him a timely checkup ("stick out your tongue and say ahh") to save his ass.

Pretty sure the only reason Wilder wasn't brutally KO'd last time was because of his beard :maybe:

Something about a break between rounds too, anyone else notice that :oo

This will be shorter than last time. Don't expect any Ortiz heroics.

Yes, something about that too, but it's hard to notice because they've mostly scoured the internet of the complete round number eight when the monkey business occurred, namely right after it started. I repeat RIGHT AFTER IT STARTED. Not between the rounds but after round 8 started..

As for beards in boxing , I don't like it and for many years it wasn't allowed for very good reasons which are just as good now, and some rules still disallow it, but they seem to be allowing it almost everyplace now and if there are rules against it they are being ignored.

Regarding the thread title, the only one I'd be rooting for is probably DDD. He just turned 22 and if he is as good as I hope he will be, he can unify and reign for quite some time.

I too hope Ortiz wins. It would mean the world to him and his family.

I credit Wilder though to face him again, where most heavies have found a way to avoid Ortiz. Dangerous fight with a big money fight in Feb.

If bad luck comes in threes, Wilder can expect something unexpected in this fight. What could that be? Maybe Wilder injures himself in this one and loses by TKO being unable to continue?

Do you honestly want a fighter that tested positive for banned substance on two occasions, as well as being known for ducking fellow marquee heavyweights like Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua, coupled with having an absolutely dire resume in the pro ranks, ruling the heavyweight division? :o

Everything about Luis ‘King Kong’ Ortiz’s “fearsome” reputation has been based on claims that none of the other world-rated heavyweights want to face him, but the sad objective and blatantly obvious truth of reality is that his team haven’t made any offers to the Cuban’s peers.

In fact, we know for certain that Ortiz has actually rejected multiple opportunities to engage in big fights!

I can't but not many top heavys left that are clean. Let's see there is Joshua, Ortiz, Wilder, and Parker?

Let's be honest, Ortiz would not rule the heavyweight division even if he got a clean shot in and waxed Wilder. He would be beat or vacate the title within a fight or two. Frankly that adds to his appeal in this situation. Put Wilder on his can and then take a hike. and we don't have to wait for Dubois (or somebody) to get their act together. And maybe the new humble, sportsmanlike Wilder will make a comeback. A wonderful new world.

He won’t.

He’s only gotten older and if he makes it to fight night without testing positive for something banned consider that a minor miracle

He was also dropped off the books at Matchroom due to poor performances. Then suddenly he is a viable opponent for Wilder after Eddie didn't think it was worth keeping Ortiz around to face Joshua.
