Carl froch would have been too big, strong and tough then, and would still be today. People forget Nigel was a small SM. and he's my fav ever.
Then?

Not exactly sure how old Froch would have been during Benn's pomp but I’d fancy Benn. :box:
Yeah not sure how that part was relevant to the discussion, either.

Would have been an insane war and regardless of the winner, Froch’s ribs would be aching badly after the fight.

Sakio bika will break Benn's heart like steve collins did but worse cause he is 23 years older,i think we should all leave this alone cause its putting a bad light on our sport. A 55 year old man who has had his time in the ring earned a couple of wheel barrows full of £50's and now he wants to take the light off the up and coming boxers? Greedy b@stard should just stay retired.

Is this scheduled for 12 rounds? I’d think there is a sizeable danger Bika might not follow any scripts. Bashing up ancient Nige would raise his profile Down Under. Bika could then spring board into a few other retirement bouts against the likes of Jeff Horn and Anthony Mundine. He’ll be smart enough to know that.

There sometimes seems to be a trend in these type of veteran bouts that one party trains for months while the opponent just turns up and doesn’t quite know what they’ve let themselves in for. That seemed the case with Fenech v Nelson 3. And I remember when Eubank and Benn did the gladiator show. Benn trained for months like it was the biggest thing in the world and Eubank just showed up. I get the feeling though that Bika is probably in reasonable shape. He always seemed ready for war in his career, which didn’t finish that long ago. I hope the financials are all above board for this. I don’t think Azumah Nelson ever saw a penny out of that 3rd Fenech fight.

If so, the old man could UD him, and probably inspire the WBC to invent an over 50s world title for him and Collins to contest in a lucrative PPV?
Its hard to see where the big money is coming from. Surely there is no significant tv, ppv or advertising for this? Just can't see this event selling as well as some people think.

It’s probably just going to collapse I guess. It’s surprising Nigel didn’t try to have this in Australia. I could see perhaps being more of ‘an event’ there. I don’t think Australia has a single world class fighter currently.

Well he's not even 2 years retired and boxed 12 with Adonis in a world title bout 4 years ago so i think you might be right

Here's hoping this doesn't happen, Benn would get badly hurt.

Prime for prime this would have been a war, now it’s a sad joke. Why does benn have to come back against this guy specifically? He’ll get crushed if bika shows up.

I really don't get the point of the fight. Benn has already proved himself. It's not like he's going to be a top contender anymore even if he wins. So he wins and then says what? So why risk losing and/or your health for nothing? Bizarre. Bika is a tough bloke, never stopped and was boxing professional upto December 2017, I can see him beating Benn tbh.

Seems amazing now than Benn was only 32 when he retired, mind you, he took a lot of punishment in that career.

Bika will pull out injured a week or so before the fight. Late replacement comes in with a weak chin and gets starched. Benn gets his win and the fans leave the arena smiling.

Not sure they can find a late replacement soft enough for a 55 year old who hasn't fought in over 2 decades.

I kinda doubt Benn legitimately beats any serious boxer that's actually attempting to win.

And it just seems odd to me to think that anybody would bother fixing a fight for a guy that's never gonna be relevant in the sport again.

I know Journeyman just kinda get in there, and don't give a sincere effort all the time to keep getting paid, and keep getting fights and all that, but why would you even bother to do that for a 55 year old? I wouldn't.

I mean here's your chance to beat a big name fighter if you're some nobody. You'd throw that away for a little bit of a payoff?

I don't know guys. If somebody is fixing a fight for Benn....I just don't get it.

I see where you are coming from but if Benn and Bika are mixing in the same circles in Aus they could easily make a deal 50-50 for friends sake, make a few quid each and laugh it off. Possibly get a draw in the fight. Lets face it if they are mates and this fight is not going on their record as its a BIBA fight who cares? If Bika wasnt planning on fighting again anyway why not make a deal with a mate for a nice little earner? at the end of the day its the paying public both boxers are ripping off for a bit of a show.
