Longest non-KO streak?

Post by Lenny Cravats »

I saw that Andy Cruz fought yesterday.

He managed 78 consecutive fights (71-7) without winning, or losing, by KO.

Has anyone topped that?

I don't know but 'Slapsie' Maxie Rosenbloom might be up there, he had 274 bouts in total and only 21 fights were by stoppage (19 wins and stopped twice), so he must of had quite long runs without a KO

Also Harry Stone has 150 fights on boxrec, but it has been reported he had around 220, he was never stopped and only won 17 by stoppage.

He actually has 226 bouts here, including the bouts that ended without a decision.

Never heard of him so just looked up his record, 99-8 and he’s only 24 ! He’s had 21 fights this year! Anyone know his story and why he’s still boxing at novice level ?

My immediate thought was Rosenbloom. He almost went 2 straight years without a stoppage win or loss. There's a streak of over a 100 bouts where there's only 3 stoppage wins for him.

He is an amateur, just won the world championships. BoxRec lists some amateur fights now. That is also part of why he has so many distance fights...even guys who are KO artists in the pros were winning almost all their am fights (at least at national and international level) by decision

This is kind of interesting. The closest I can come up with Cruz's numbers that was a great fighter was Tommy Loughran. These numbers could be slightly off but it's something like this:

He had a stretch during his last 14 years where he scored 3 stoppages in I believe 93 fights. 2 of the 3 were against fighters making their pro debut.

I'd think midget wolgast and baby arizmendi would have solid streaks.

Loche has very few stoppage wins and only one stoppage loss but they are peppered throughout his 136 fights.

Unless I'm mistaken, Memphis Pal Moore's record only has TWO stoppage results in the last 2 pages of his record on Boxrec. He has 264 bouts so that's some going.

Johnny Dundee had 17 KOs in 332 fights and he was stopped only twice. However, the KOs were dispersed so evenly throughout his career that I think he had only streaks of 30-something. The longest streak I found - which was quite less than some of the ones mentioned here - was 49 from Orlando Zulueta.

Peter Buckley must be up there 300 fights and he went the distance in each one for his final 6 years

Displaying way too much time on my hands today, I counted 116 straight decisions on Peter Buckley's professional record. That has to be tops.

Buckley had lovely defensive moves. It's worth watching what he does versus Naseem Hamed. He totally diffuses the dynamite.

I haven't looked it up but how many years did Pacquiao go without a stoppage after he came off the roids?
