LEAVE DEONTAY ALONE
Re: I hope Ortiz KOs Wilder
An old past prime ortiz was winning on points against wilder, got caught late. Ortiz is still the better boxer and i also hope he wins.
Wilder, same as fury & ruiz are part of that heavyweight circus show, all horrible to watch.

I don't quite understand it as Deontay has been a huge part of bringing life back to the division again.tiny_acres wrote: ↑29 Sep 2019, 20:34Seems like we have disappointed fans after every Wilder fight.Impractical Poster wrote: ↑29 Sep 2019, 18:17 Looks like we're going to have some disappointed fans after this fight.

Re: I hope Ortiz KOs Wilder
It's not difficult to understand
The positives
Summary, he is an exciting fighter due to his once in a generation power, but he is extremely protected and fighting a rematch no one is calling for against a very old never-quite-was contender when there are prime age challengers he should be facing has irritated a lot of people
The positives
- Wilder has an amazing highlight reel of knockouts
He can be counted on for a decent sound bite
He is a good age, handsome and athletic
He won bronze at the Olympics
He is undefeated
He has scary power and seemingly decent chin
- His resume is extremely padded
His team has openly frozen out top contenders like Dillian Whyte, with the help of the WBC
The Povetkin situation also seemed a bit dodgy
In his two fights against decent opposition (Ortiz and Fury - neither in prime condition) he has needed interference from officials to make sure he kept the strap
You need to knock him out to win, as the cards are rigged in his favour, but that is also going to be difficult if they have doctors miraculous stepping in to give him time when in trouble.
Though he cuts a good short promo, when he is given a mic for more than 30 seconds it becomes painful

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Wilder was ahead on all three cards going into the 10th round:
84-85
84-85

Re: I hope Ortiz KOs Wilder
I'm surprised so many have a problem with this rematch, the first fight was way better than wilder/fury.
Re: I hope Ortiz KOs Wilder
If knocking out all but one that ran from him (Malik Scott) is poor, than I'm not sure what is good. I think Hearn signed him to keep him away from Joshua. After seeing what Ruiz did, it was smart by Hearn.KiwiRider wrote: ↑29 Sep 2019, 20:33He was also dropped off the books at Matchroom due to poor performances. Then suddenly he is a viable opponent for Wilder after Eddie didn't think it was worth keeping Ortiz around to face Joshua.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑27 Sep 2019, 00:48
Do you honestly want a fighter that tested positive for banned substance on two occasions, as well as being known for ducking fellow marquee heavyweights like Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua, coupled with having an absolutely dire resume in the pro ranks, ruling the heavyweight division?
Everything about Luis ‘King Kong’ Ortiz’s “fearsome” reputation has been based on claims that none of the other world-rated heavyweights want to face him, but the sad objective and blatantly obvious truth of reality is that his team haven’t made any offers to the Cuban’s peers.
In fact, we know for certain that Ortiz has actually rejected multiple opportunities to engage in big fights!![]()

Red - He can be that until he is beaten officially.snake33 wrote: ↑26 Sep 2019, 14:52 It would open up the division and Wilder might be forced to be more humble.
Wilder's problem is he is a pompous jerk. BOMB SQUAD isn't motivating for fans,
it's annoying. Let's see if he has the character to make a comeback.
Ortiz almost had him the last time. He can do it.
Re: I hope Ortiz KOs Wilder
i am fine with anyone doing it because a young fighter can come after and clean the old geezer's clock.KiwiRider wrote: ↑26 Sep 2019, 15:21 If it was anyone else besides Ortiz, then yes, I would love someone to clean his clock.
The only reason I don't want it to be Ortiz (and the same applied to Stiverne) is that he is too old to carry on a good run in the division. It needs to be a young guy making a future legacy KO of Wilder. It's better for the sport. There are already too many geezers in the top #30 that need to go. Pulev, Povitkin, Ortiz, Takem etc. Those guys need to pack it in, and let the next wave wash through.
I really want someone to shut Wilder up, but it needs to be someone with a future, not someone on the tail end of a lacklustre career.
Re: I hope Ortiz KOs Wilder
This. Agreed. The heavyweight division was dead. Post Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson era how many mega fights were there? Klitschko/Haye and Klitschko/Povetkin? And they were both stinkers. HW was dead. In my opinion Wilder and Joshua are the main 2 guys bringing it back to life. Wilder and Joshua have both been great for the sport as far as reviving interest in the Heavyweight Division again goesImpractical Poster wrote: ↑29 Sep 2019, 20:38I don't quite understand it as Deontay has been a huge part of bringing life back to the division again.tiny_acres wrote: ↑29 Sep 2019, 20:34

Re: I hope Ortiz KOs Wilder
Among other things their haven't been any solid american champs since well Holyfield? Briggs is in the mix but he did loss his title quick. Charles Martin was somebody that I thought was out but nope. He is even better after his fight with AJ.
Wilder brings back the american fans. Cause things that have been steaded in this thread. Also he always goes for the KO. Noticed that he will wait for you till the end of the fight if he has too. He way up might been padded and overprotected and so on. He did stop Ortiz last time out also he grows with every fight. The dumb thing that happend in the 8th was... yeah, things like that is bad for boxing.
The heavyweight division brings out the best and the worst in people. This era can be legendary with all the top guys and those coming up.
Wilder ends it before the 3rd.

Yeah but last time he was a young 75 year old prospect. Now he's 77 and way past it
Re: I hope Ortiz KOs Wilder
At one time in his life he could have beaten Wilder on his best day. Not now, reflexs are probably going and so is stamina. Wilder ko 2
