Errol Spence vs. Shawn Porter tracking over 300k buys

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

I knew it wouldn't do more than 400k.. Which would mean more than the Mikey Garcia fight..

Good numbers regardless.. But it does mean Spence needs a good NAME opponent to attract the buys.

Also, I believe Porter and Mikey sold their respective fights more than Spence did.

This fight probably did around $2m gate.. Which is would be good number..

With PPV revenue around $22m.. Half goes to FOX?

$11m split between then on top of their $2m guaranteed purses?

Not bad..

So assuming the Spence-Jr.-Porter does 350K PPV buys, with Errol’s bout against Mikey Garcia achieving 360K+ buys, then how does that compare to Terence Crawford’s commercial worth?

• Crawford-Khan 150K PPV buys.

• Crawford-Postol 50K PPV buys.

Spence Jr. has two world titles (WBC & IBF) to Crawford’s one (WBO).

Spence Jr. has lots of options at welterweight. Crawford has none.

Spence Jr. is more accomplished than Crawford at welterweight.

No wonder Bob Arum wants to do a 50-50 split on the purses, promotion & network coverage for a potential Crawford-Spence Jr. fight! Greedy old bástárd! :OhYes:

We have been through this before

Haymon will eventually offer a flat fee to Crawford. Some boneheads will say "it's a career payday he should take it"

Then after another year they will eventually settle on a percentage with guaranteed money included. Or one will lose in the meantime and blow it

Will this be another one that outdraws Fury-WIlder?

Wilder-Fury might have only generated 325K PPV buys on Showtime, but it was also a pay-per-view event in the UK televised by BT Sports.

I actually don’t think that anyone affiliated with the PBC will submit an offer to Terence Crawford.

Errol Spence Jr. doesn’t really need Crawford, since ‘The Truth’ can already do big numbers facing the likes of Pacquiao, Thurman and Danny Garcia.

And if Spence Jr. eventually runs out of options at welterweight, there are plenty of high-profile PBC stablemates competing at 154lbs he can face in the distant future, such as:

• Julian Williams (WBA & IBF champion)
• Jarrett Hurd
• Erislandy Lara (WBA champion)
• Brian Castano
• Tony Harrison (WBC champion)
• Jermell Charlo
• Erickson Lubin
• Austin Trout

I know this might frustrate fight fans, but people seem to forget that Spence Jr. is the A-side, with Terence Crawford bringing very little to the negotiating table.

Haymon isn't serving up his guys to bud. He's simply too good and doesn't generate the kind of revenue for it to make sense for al to go outside his packed stable at 47. As I've been saying Ramirez and prograis are buds best options in the foreseeable future. Shame really, but that's boxing.

He needs Crawford if he wants to make generational money with one fight. Those 154 guys and Danny Garcia pay well but Crawford would pay much much more.

If the public demands it enough and the money is right eventually these fights happen unless there is an uoset

No one learns.. Jermall and Hurd said they would fight 'next year' kept postponing their fight,, What happened? They both their '0'.. Now they're trying to regain their own belts.. No one has even discussed a Jermell vs. Hurd fight since Jermell lost his belt first last Decemer..

A fight with Crawford would do 1mm buys very easily.

Ggg never had much for ppv numbers either. When matched with canelo they did monster numbers

Odd though that Pac vs Mayweather wasn't affected at all by the fact that Pac had lost twice in 2012, and seemed to be on the downside of his career.

Probably really bad for all of us that Pac vs Mayweather still did as well as it did under those circumstances. Because it means promoters will always think that'll work whereas I'm pretty sure it was just a special circumstance that isn't likely to repeat itself.

That fight was like 6 years in the making... Fact was they had beaten everyone one else in the division.. But yeh, was strange.

That's what I say.. Without GGG, Canelo was doing what 500k or less..

So it's like saying without Crawford, Spence is going to sticking around 300k buys.. The most money he will earn will be against Crawford.

Even Spence vs Crawford probably only does 600K at the very best. More like 500 or 550K I'm thinking. They're trying but other than us these guys just ain't stars to most people.

A great deal of those buys would be from Texas and Nebraska.

Crawford isn't more nationally known than Garcia or Thurman. At least not that I've seen. You could promote the fornicate out of it, but it wouldn't do more than PAC/Spence.

Crawford is a big money fight. Boxing fans know it and more importantly ESPN would know it. It would do a 1mm buys

Nothing like his old days but he would clearly be a more lucrative opponent than bud would.

No way. It's the fight I've wanted the most for years. Yes, boxing fans know it and there isn't anywhere near a million of us that would pay for it.

For good main events there is a built in base of 350k boxing ppv buyers. For a fight between the two best fighters in their primes that would jump to 500k of just boxing fans alone.

The thing that puts these events over the top is a promotion that gets everyday people talking and interested. There would be a promotional tour, late night TV appearances, ESPN radio and studio appearances and a huge amount of advertising for this fight. There would be enough interest to drive the casual fan numbers over 1mm

Fox promotes heavier than ESPN. You're dreaming. I remember people on here saying wilder/fury would do a million. Casual fans don't exist in America anymore. They were really fans, just not over the top like we are. I had dozens of buddies like that and they'll watch once in a while now. I doubt any of them have ever heard of Crawford or Spence.

I'm not. Think of the guaranteed purses each will require. The promotion will have to be huge to make money and they will promote the crap out of it

If wilder and fury rematch it wont do 1mm but it will do much better than the previous fight because top rank and ESPN will be promoting and the haymon side will need to cover the huge purses wilder is commanding

They wouldn't require anymore money than theyre making now. You're acting like it's Leonard/hearns because of how awesome it could be. ESPN cares way more about whatever UFC ppv was on that month. Americans don't like boxing.
