Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Liborio Solis - December 7, 2019 (Cancelled)
The winner will claim a vacant WBA super bantamweight title
It looks like Guillermo Rigondeaux will fight three times in a calendar year for the first time since 2012. Former super flyweight champion and three-time bantamweight title challenger Liborio Solis announced that he’s signed to face “El Chacal” for a vacant title on December 7th, presumably as part of PBC’s Jermall Charlo-Dennis Hogan card on Showtime.
El Nuevo Herald says it’s a vacant WBA title, because of course it is. The sanctioning body currently has a regular champ in Daniel Roman, an interim champ in Brandon Figueroa, and a gold champ in Ronny Rios; presumably, Roman will be bumped up to super champ to make room. For bonus points, neither of these two are in the WBA rankings.
Despite a combined age of 76, this figures to be a decent scrap, especially if Rigondeaux (19-1, 13 KO) comes out looking to slug like he did in his knockout of Julio Ceja this past June. Solis’ (30-5-1, 14 KO) only noncontroversial loss since 2011 came to Shinsuke Yamanaka; he dropped a bogus decision to Jamie McDonnell in 2016, then clashed heads for a no decision three rounds into the rematch. Since then, he’s chewed up five nobodies in Latin America.

Re: Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Liborio Solis - December 7, 2019
Rigondeaux & Solis aren’t ranked in the WBA’s top 15
In an unusual move, the WBA will have the 39-year-old Rigondeaux and 37-year-old Solis (30-5-1, 14 KOs) battling for their vacant WBA super bantamweight title despite the fact that neither fighter is ranked in the top 15 by the organization. In fact, neither guy is ranked in the top tier by any of the four sanctioning bodies. It’s unknown hat the rationale is for the WBA to have two unranked fighters competing for their regular super bantamweight title, as there are a lot of contenders that should be given the opportunity.
Here are the WBA’s top 15 at super bantamweight:
Ronny Rios – WBA Gold Champ
1. Brandon Figueroa
2. Murodjon Akhmadaliev
3. Yukinori Oguni
4. Alexander Mejia
5. Leonardo Baez
6. Lorenzo Parra Garcia
7. Giovanny Gutierrez
8. Azat Hovhannisyan
9. Diego De la Hoya
10. Maikol Beaumont
11. Ye Joon Kim
12. Stephen Fulton
13. Neslan Machado
14. Franklin Manzanilla
15. Marcus Bates
The World Boxing Association currently already has a world champion at 122 in Daniel Roman, and they also have an interim belt holder in Brandon Figueroa. To top it off, the WBA also has a Gold super bantamweight champion in Ronny Rios. Rigondeaux vs. Solis will have the WBA ‘regular’ 122-pound title on the line. Roman will be elevated to WBA Super World 122-lb champion,

Showtime should just shut down their boxing operation if they're gonna televise embarrassing garbage like this.
At least when HBO had their budget slashed they found value in unexpected places like the super fly division. Showtime has just become a dumping ground for PBC's trash.

Rigondeaux (19-1, 13 KOs) will look to move down and capture a title in a second weight class while showing off the masterful technical skills that made him a unified 122-pound world champion and perennial member of the pound-for-pound list. A two-time Olympic gold medalist for his native Cuba, Rigondeaux made his name with victories over the likes of Nonito Donaire, Rico Ramos and Joseph Agbeko. Most recently, Rigondeaux scored an exciting eighth-round stoppage of former champion Julio Ceja in June on FOX.
Born in Venezuela and fighting out of Panama, Solis (30-5-1, 14 KOs) will make his U.S. debut on December 21 while riding a five-fight winning streak. Solis captured a super flyweight world title in 2013 amidst a 14-bout unbeaten run. He has lost by decision in his two previous attempts at 118-pound title, including a controversial loss to Jamie McDonnell, which he has bounced back from on his current win streak.

What happened to Brandon Figueroa? He was the WBA's interim champion that fought for the WBA "regular" super bantamweight title during his most recent outing.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑01 Oct 2019, 12:49Rigondeaux & Solis aren’t ranked in the WBA’s top 15

He's listed on the official WBA website as being the WBA super bantamweight champion (no mention of interim).
If I was one of the WBA's top-15 ranked contenders, I'd consider suing the WBA.
The article suggests the WBA will have four titles at 122lbs (super, regular, interim and gold). FFS!

Re: Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Liborio Solis - December 7, 2019 (Postponed)
Visa Issues Force Solis To Withdraw From Rigondeaux Clash
Guillermo Rigondeaux’s hopes of a second divisional title and his most active ring campaign in seven years are put on hold.
The reigning lineal junior featherweight titlist will be limited to a spectator this weekend, as his scheduled bout versus Venezuela’s Liborio Solis has been postponed. Visa issues prevented Solis from entering the United States in time to fight this Saturday’s edition of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on Fox, as the two were due to collide for a bantamweight title in the chief support at Toyota Center in Ontario, California.
Representatives from Premier Boxing Champions confirmed the development to BS.com, although not yet in a position to confirm how the balance of the broadcast will play out. El Nuevo Herald’s Jorge Ebro was the first to break the news of the postponement.
