New WBA Rankings: October 1, 2019

Post by oogiebe »

Chris Lovejoy is back! 435 by BoxRec and 10 by the WBA.
Good to see Oquendo staying relevent even though he's probably retired and working for the postal service.

Champ: Ruiz

1-Bryan
2-Usyk
3-AJ
4-Kownacki
5-Povetkin
6-Hunter
7-Hrgovic
8-Price
9-Wallin
10-Lovejoy
11-Kuzmin
12-Fujimoto
13-Miljas
14-Dychko
15-Oquendo

I think this is far worse than the WBO rankings I posted recently.

Take Chris Lovejoy's highest rated opponent on boxrec. Now, let's say each new opponent Chris fights has a rating 20% higher than the previous best opponent. How long will it take Chris Lovejoy to break into boxrec's actual top 15?

The answer is 43 more fights.

Disgraceful ratings.

If 43 useless fights equal a top 15 boxrec rating then thats wrong again. Are you sure Boxrec still does that?

A useless fight should be useless when it comes to a high rating.

These ratings are based on quality of performance, you cant be high without have facing a decent opponent. Surely that has to be the only way? Quality not Quantity.

Fujimoto still...

He's scheduled to face a 13-10 SMW-CW that he beat in his last fight 13 months ago.

At what point do the sanctioning bodies start ordering fights to maintain rank? Fujimoto v Lovejoy, winner gets Price...

Heavyweight drops 200 PLACES on one ratings list, rises to #10 with WBA

Since the 2018 story WBN put out on the shocking WBA system, Lovejoy has DROPPED almost 200 places in the BoxRec Rankings. This seems correct upon reviewing the C.V. of Lovejoy, who unfathomably could be chosen as a voluntary by champion Andy Ruiz Jr. Lovejoy, nicknamed ‘Pretty Boy’, hasn’t faced anyone else in the TOP 100 So how on earth can he be rated above the likes of Oscar Rivas, Derek Chisora and Dillian Whyte beggars belief.

Yes he has said he is no longer a cruiserweight. Where should he be ranked do you think? Sujectively I think 5 is about right but When Bellew moved up he was #10 I think and i thought that was out of line. Quite difficult to sync Cruiserweights to Heavyweight.

I'd personally keep them unranked until they fight and when they do actually compete at that weight I guess you need to find a middle ground between their previous ranking at the other weight and the opponent they just beat. In this case Usyk was 1 at CW but Spong is ranked at 69. His Heavyweight resume will consist of beating number 69, being ranked at 5 as a result of that is a bit questionable.

What did you do with Huck and Adamek?

Usyk has fought at SuperHeavyweight I think in WSB against Joyce who he played with years ago. He is something extra. Will be a problem for everyone. Or he walks into Wilder's right.

But, agree top 5 and not the nr 1 or 2.

In the BoxRec world, Usyk will be ranked after his HW debut. His CW points are converted by something like 73%. That'll put him 5th I think.

He might even be dead, has anyone heard from him recently??

Im going by the boxrec-rating, The Ring and those how left the ring and started their own stick. The WBA superbelt only sort of matters, a bite.

The org-rating might sell boxer to networks, but nothing more. Haven't been relevant since the 90s? Right? Or did this s*it start in the 80s?

The closes he was to fighting was againt Briggs for the WBA regular belt. Was that 2016 or 2017..

Since then they have stalled other negotiations..
