Jacobs dropped Derev in round 1.. I know that fight went the distance, and what was it a split decision?

GGG can find that opening, he has thebest angles.. Late stoppage.

..the only reason I'm having second thoughts here is because of GGG age...still think though he's got enough bullets in that gun..decision or late stoppage imo..

It appears that Derevo fought Usyk twice a long time ago and won one of those fights

This is a top fight. Dev is strong and skilful. I think it will be competitive.

When I scored it live I had Dev beating Jacobs by a round or two. I haven’t rewatched the fight.

He comes from the well schooled Ukrainian team. Angles and intelligent pressure much like Usyk and Lomachenko although not as proficient.

He’s a threat. He however did look small vs Jacobs and seemed to gas. Maybe golovkin can catch him late.

If Golovkin is anywhere near his best, he’ll defeat Derevyanchenko either by unanimous decision or via late stoppage. This would have been a moderately competitive bout even if the Kazakh was in his prime.

That being said, GGG is at the age where father time has to catch up with him at some point, plus he’s had a few bruising encounters within the last couple of years against the like of Daniel Jacobs and Canelo, so I can’t completely dismiss the possibility of Gennadiy being upset.

Golovkin is a more skilled and powerful. He isn't really declined. Derev is a solid boxer, but not elusive enough to handle a better and tougher boxer. Anyway Derev can give Golovkin a fight.

Yep. Golovkin made significant changes with his nutrition including drinking significantly more liquid. Maybe weight cut was a lot harder this time.

Derev has exactly zero notable wins, did not look good in his last fight, will be 34-years-old in a few weeks, had 400+ amatuer bouts and 24 fights in the world series of boxing which should count on his professional record. That would put him at 36-2 and he would still have zero notable wins.
People worry about GGG's age but Derev isn't much younger and has a lot of boxing miles on his body too.

Sam Soliman, Tureano Johnson and Jack Culcay are all guys I've heard of, and watched fight.

Soliman had seen better days, but was a solid contender at one time. Johnson and Culcay are lower echelon fringe contenders now. I mean they're not huge wins, but wins like that are the reason why he's ranked...and I'm sure an extensive amateur background.

It's the only reason he's ranked. None are really notable and one's am background shouldn't be considered when being ranked in the pros, unless it's off the charts, like Loma. His close loss to Jacobs is his only "notable" performance. Doesn't mean he's a bad fighter, just replying to the poster.

I guess I'm going to have to upgrade wins over Johnson and Culcay to awe inspiring.
Unlike Soliman they actually walked to the ring on two good legs when they faced Derev, so that's something noteworthy.
