Crazy the money DAZN are throwing around, they can’t possibly ever get into profit, they’ll be gone in a year or two IMO. Great for the fighters though

This was from Dan Rafael:

Gennadiy Golovkin $2.5 million official purse plus additional compensation based on his ownership of GGG Promotions. According to sources GGG and his company would take in $7.5M in cash and an additional $7.5M in DAZN parent company equity). Sergiy Derevyanchenko will earn $4 million but he is guaranteed $5.2 million.

I thought Golovkin edged a fair few rounds with his quality, he got the last word in a few of the exchanges in the close rounds, some nice uppercuts through the middle on the inside or the looping right hands caught the eye, I thought his jab was poor as was his defence, Ive not read through the thread or seen anyone elses views but I wont be surprised if some had Derevyanchenko winning as he won a lot of the rounds bigger and brought serious pressure and looked great in spells, effing arseholes booing Golovkin at the end though, that pissed me off
Yup, ignorant pricks, couldn’t believe what I was hearing tbh.

Totally agree, embarrassing booing GGG. The man has been a great ambassador for the sport and is a gentleman - he'd just fought off a very useful younger contender at 37 despite being clearly fatigued in the late rounds, far from vintage but the man is a warrior. Derevyanchenko performed brilliantly & made a real close fight of it :TU:

Golovkin deserved the win for me. Tight fight, Derev is a solid fighter. Jacobs had to run and spoil to make it through and won a close decision. Lets get it right, Derev is one of the best at the weight. I'd take him to easily chin Lemieux for a start and I'd probably pick him against Charlo or Saunders so this was a good performance by GGG to essentially beat him at his own game. I don't think too many will be pushing Derev back if they fight him.

GGG cock gobblers are a salty bunch

fornicate yea he deserved to be booed

This guy is the biggest hypocrite in the game.

He has had 1 poor decision against him and now 1 poor for him.

Jacobs fight he got a razor close decision for him too
Canelo did whoop him in the rematch though

Now we know why he trashed the belt last year, he didn't want that smoke.

Meh, he may thrown the belt but then he fought Derev a couple fights later and beat him for the belt. Legit close win despite some predictable moaners and a pretty good win for an old guy who is probably on the way out after 15 years pro. He certainly has had some crazy fans who overrated the hell out of him though.

Very good fight too, made it worth staying up for despite the crappy undercard.

Yeah it was a good performance taking everything into account and derev is no mug either. It kind of reminded me of Lewis Vitali in a way, a big performance from an aging fighter against a solid young gun. Lewis showed a lot of heart and will to win that night. Its a shame he didn't show that earlier in his career as he would have had much more support.

I had GGG winning against Jacobs and Alvarez x2. But thought he lost this one by 1 point. But too close to complain.

He'd lost a beat in the rematch with Alvarez. Struggles with the pace. Still a top fighter but he will lose soon.

I've nothing but admiration for GGG. Christ the man can take a shot, be it to the head or body.

The body shot he took in the 5th is the sort of shot we see cut many a boxer in half. Not GGG, he kept a poker face, moved and tucked up and rode it out and came back.

Derevyanchenko is a rock solid, hard punching dangerman, certainly top 5 in the world at middleweight, so although GGG is past his peak, he would always give him an argument.

I had Jacob's coming the closest to beating GGG, but this was a very tough night physically. I also had GGG beating Canelo on both occasions, so find the minority anti-Golovkin brigade hard to fathom.

Any fighter who reaches a certain level of profile in boxing starts to get some push back and negativity. Boxers pretty much always have their highest ratio of fans to detractors when they are coming up and still a bit 'indie' like GGG was when he started in America. But when they become really popular they start to become a bit 'establishment'

Exactly. Jacobs was running, spoiling and not landing enough. That was not a close fight. Canelo 2 and Derevo were close and could go either way. A condition of Derevo's face though is telling me that Golovkin's punches were of the higher quality which would shift a few close rounds to him.
