Post Klitchkos era : heavyweight scene full of games
I feel really bored seeing fighters caught using PEDs, fighters get injury, fighters not fighting each other, too many conflict between organizing bodies , fights not being made because of money, fighters fighting 1 or twice a year on avarage. fighters running their mouth MILLION TIMES more than what actions they can bring.
Imho history will not remember any of heavyweights in last few years and next few years. Even fights like fury wilder was game play, what more you can say.

Maybe you should quit watching boxing if you are so bored. Also might be a good idea to quit the forum.

I assume you’re only in your teenage years or perhaps slightly older, because you're complaining about dodgy shenanigans that have always been prevalent in our beloved spot for several decades.Boxtune wrote: ↑08 Oct 2019, 01:26I feel really bored seeing fighters caught using PEDs, fighters get injury, fighters not fighting each other, too many conflict between organizing bodies , fights not being made because of money, fighters fighting 1 or twice a year on avarage. fighters running their mouth MILLION TIMES more than what actions they can bring.

Provide any recent example of a fighter refraining to face one of his rivals due to boxing politics (i.e. risk versus return, TV or promotional rivalry, dubious behaviour of the sports’ governing bodies etc.) and I’ll very quickly provide equivalent examples of the same situations that occurred decades earlier.
The same applies to fighters being unable to fight due to injury or receiving suspensions due to consuming PED’s.

I think what it is.. We now live in a time where everythng is broadcast, through social media channels. Just in the 90's, there was no Facebook, Twitter or even social media as a whole. We had to read newspapers, magazines, watch the news at 9 etc. I think now, the fans are even more involved in the all the background stuff that goes on, and it's all out there for us to see..Enlightened-One wrote: ↑08 Oct 2019, 03:09I assume you’re only in your teenage years or perhaps slightly older, because you're complaining about dodgy shenanigans that have always been prevalent in our beloved spot for several decades.Boxtune wrote: ↑08 Oct 2019, 01:26I feel really bored seeing fighters caught using PEDs, fighters get injury, fighters not fighting each other, too many conflict between organizing bodies , fights not being made because of money, fighters fighting 1 or twice a year on avarage. fighters running their mouth MILLION TIMES more than what actions they can bring.

It doesn't even seem to be attached to the sport. Like it's an entity of suck that mostly drifts until called upon. Still think Usyk would school the division but so far he has yet to have a single HW fight, ffs.
Re: Post Klitchkos era : heavyweight scene full of games
Thats why i had 0 heavyweights in my favourite boxers list
Re: Post Klitchkos era : heavyweight scene full of games
Usyk will need a new dance partner now, since the kickboxer got cought with PEDs.
Im going with you boxingtune wasn't in the Lewis/Holyfield/Tyson-era. So much BS, PEDs, petty drama and padded records in the mix back then. Remember how the scandinavian boxing community was heated up by the Tyson-Nielsen fight, a big event but a ordinary fight for Tyson against a guy with names on his record, thou everybody was well past their prime and at the end of their careers. At least one could watch reruns of many Tyson-fights from his Prime years.
Im happy if their is at least a couple of fights, it ain't that they can't be made it is just how the promotors protects and building resume for their fights that stinks. Their is more show then sport when profiled guys are fighting "nobodies".
I do like to see it is pretty brutal way to clear up the div in betting up anybody with a pseudoworld rank. I did like how Fury exposed Schwartz and his nr.2 rating in the WBO. The rankings are just their to sell the fighters, it means s*it if you look at the landscape of the heavyweights is really looking.
We had a bunch of good fights something that people craved in the last era. But their wasn't that many around. Ok, Chisora was.
The heavyweight division is beyond loaded. And many upandcomers who are the real deal. Can't say if their was this many around before or last time it was this stacked with solid and great fighters. Maybe the 80s, where Holmes got crushed by Ali's shadow and Don King destroyed everyone he got involved with in the scene and much more.
Also we got two rematches that will be great! Thou, I think Ortiz will be stopped quicker this time around. Much quicker. And AJ will decision Ruiz.

The Heavyweight division as a whole is a lot more interesting these days. Hell even in the Klitschko era Haye was talking about fighting Wlad or Vitali for quite a long while before they ever actually shared the ring together.
Lengthy negotiations, and time between the big fights is just par for the course in this sport. When it's the biggest fight that can be made in the division. All parties involved want the money to be right.

I think many of us by have similar views, but what to do? Stop watching? Nah!Boxtune wrote: ↑08 Oct 2019, 01:26 I feel really bored seeing fighters caught using PEDs, fighters get injury, fighters not fighting each other, too many conflict between organizing bodies , fights not being made because of money, fighters fighting 1 or twice a year on avarage. fighters running their mouth MILLION TIMES more than what actions they can bring.

Despite all the bottomless corruption, despite the inumerable PED failures (even with the near useless drug testing!!), despite the interminable avoidance tactics and the attempted fleecing of the gullible public of boxing casuals - despite all of that Boxing is still a great sport. Maybe the best sport.
As you have alluded, things are a lot better in those times when you have a clear champion.
We just need to get back there and settle for nothing less.

Re: Post Klitchkos era : heavyweight scene full of games
People just have too high of expectations, like they think HWs are supposed to be special unicorns or something. It's not even in my top 5 favourite divisions, so I never expect much from it, but when good fights come I'll take them.
Re: Post Klitchkos era : heavyweight scene full of games
We never got Wlad vs Lewis; Bowe Vs Lewis; Bowe vs Tyson; Frazier vs Norton, et al. Nothing new.
Re: Post Klitchkos era : heavyweight scene full of games
No but we did get Lewis v Holyfield x 2, Bowe v Holyfield x 3, Tyson v Holyfield x 2, Ali v Frazier x 3 etc etc. We're still waiting for some modern top heavyweights to fight each other once.
Re: Post Klitchkos era : heavyweight scene full of games
Truth is, there has rarly ever been good heavyweights.
I find most overrated.
Stylisticly and technique lower eeights > heavyweight all day.
90s were overrated too. Holyfield head butting style was ugly, lewis was often boring. Tyson, Tua, that were the entertaining heavyweights. Sad they never met.
