Re: Crawford calls Spence out
Crawford's handlers are asking for a 50-50 split, despite the following facts being true:
• Spence-Jr.-Porter 350K PPV buys
• Spence-Jr.-Garcia 360K+ PPV buys
• Crawford-Khan 150K PPV buys
• Crawford-Postol 50K PPV buys
• Spence Jr. has two world titles (WBC & IBF) to Crawford’s one (WBO)
• Spence Jr. has lots of options at welterweight & 154lbs. Crawford has none
• Spence Jr. is more accomplished than Crawford at welterweight
Errol Spence Jr. doesn’t really need Crawford, since ‘The Truth’ can already do big numbers facing the likes of Pacquiao, Thurman and Danny Garcia.
And if Spence Jr. eventually runs out of options at welterweight, there are plenty of high-profile PBC stablemates competing at 154lbs he can face in the distant future, such as:
• Julian Williams (WBA & IBF champion)
• Jarrett Hurd
• Erislandy Lara (WBA champion)
• Brian Castano
• Tony Harrison (WBC champion)
• Jermell Charlo
• Erickson Lubin
• Austin Trout
And yet somehow, Bob Arum wants to do a 50-50 split on the purses, promotion & network coverage in order to stage a potential Crawford-Spence Jr. fight!

To make matters worse, Bob Arum has done his upmost to ridicule and criticise Al Haymon, which achieves nothing but burn bridges, scuppering the possibility of certain bouts being made!
And let’s be perfectly honest, if beating the likes of Spence Jr., Pacquiao, Thurman, Porter & Garcia were high on Terence Crawford’s list of priorities, he wouldn’t have recently extended his contract with Bob Arum’s Top Rank.
So Errol Spence Jr. may eventually face Terence Crawford at some point in the distant future, but there are no compelling sporting or commercial reasons for him to rush into such a fight, meaning that the PBC fighter may bide his time until after 2021, by which time ‘Bud’ will probably be considered past-his-prime.

Hope they make it happen sooner rather then later.
The thing between PBC and TR is silly and dumb. Hyping it up, maybe?

Re: Crawford calls Spence out
It seems highly likely that Terence Crawford’s career will inevitably tread the very same path as his fellow Top Rank stablemate, Gilberto Ramírez, which means he’ll continue facing either shot fighters (with a name) or anonymous unheralded opponents of a similar ilk to the likes of Egidijus Kavaliauskas.
And if this happens, fight fans will probably start losing interest in him. None of us will care enough to see him face Errol Spence Jr.
Re: Crawford calls Spence out
Spence fighting Pac or Thurman I have absolutely no interest in. Spence fighting Garcia is nothing more than a marking time fight.
Spence should either rematch Porter or fight Crawford. That's it. There is nobody else in the division.

Not fighting the top 10-guys is just bad(for the fans), but then again if they make money of Crawford fight no-namers, then well... It is what it is.

Re: Crawford calls Spence out
Spence has Danny, Pac, Thurman and crawford left to fight before he moves up. That could be a realy good 2020&2021.
Crawford has..... Whoever pbc will let him fight.
I personally would like to see Spence vs Danny as a high level keep busy. And craw vs Pac with the winner pre signed to face Spence (assuming he wins).
Problem with this is pbc is basically giving Crawford a massive career boost with a path to undisputed and P4p, so they rightfully should fornicate him on the splits witch is fair, and I don't think Arum will take "bad" splits.

Re: Crawford calls Spence out
Do you guys think this fight is on GGG - Canelo rivalry level ?
Re: Crawford calls Spence out
It might happen in 2022 or something, but it won't be happening anytime soon while Spence still has the PBC stable to fight against.

Re: Crawford calls Spence out
It's hard to say because neither are huge draws on there own. But the fight itself is a 50-50 in the most stacked division between 2 p4p rivals.
As it is its close but smaller I think. But if they can get it with all the belts on the line then definitely that kinda ballpark especially because one of them beating Pac would be massive for that person's profile.
Re: Crawford calls Spence out
This fight would probably draw more PPV buys than either have had in the past ( especially Crawford) so financially it makes good sense.
I can see it drawing out though.
Meanwhile, Spence isn't going to hang around too long and likely will move up. Im not confident the fight could be made before that.

Apparently Arum said a while ago, he’d do a 45-45 split. With the remaining 10% going to the winner..

Re: Crawford calls Spence out
That's not much of a compromise, since Crawford is the B-side by the proverbial country mile.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑08 Oct 2019, 16:40 Apparently Arum said a while ago, he’d do a 45-45 split. With the remaining 10% going to the winner..
Bob Arums is essentially telling the A-side he’ll allow them to receive only a 45% purse guarantee, rising to 55% for the winner, despite the fact his fighter generates 72% less revenue than Spence Jr.
Re: Crawford calls Spence out
Crawford got cross the street to stay relevant in the WW division.

That doesn't sound reasonable at all. Ramirez sucks, while Crawford is top 3-4 p4p. He can be a super star. Just needs a super fight for that.Paci wrote: ↑08 Oct 2019, 11:57Sounds reasonable.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑08 Oct 2019, 11:47

Re: Crawford calls Spence out
Is there a contract in front of Spence to sign like Crawford is insinuating? I doubt it. I really hope the Garcia fight falls through and they make this happen instead. Arum standing on an even split shows he doesn't want it just yet.

If even split says they don't want it, what is the split that is fair and shows they do want it? And shouldn;'t there be the mandatory 'Crawford offered Khan more than Garcia' post in here by now husky

My comparison of the resumes of Gilberto Ramírez and Terence Crawford was purely in the context of Top Ranks’ inability to secure marquee bouts for their stable of fighters.
If you’d bothered to read my post, you’d surely know this.
So I’ll ask you again, what part of my post sounds unreasonable?
I’ll reckon you’ll ignore this post, because the alternative would be you admitting to having reading comprehension issues.
Re: Crawford calls Spence out
If it's not happening between now October 2019 and April 2020 I don't care.
Re: Crawford calls Spence out
No he doesn't. Strategically all he has to do is wait for one of the sanctioning bodies to order it, then they'll be forced to pay him step aside money if they choose to duck him. This would actually be easier and sped up if Pacquiao ups and retires with the belt, then chances are Crawford could fight the #1 contender for that belt giving him bargaining power.

Ramirez was a weak champion and needed to be protected. Crawford is a top fighter and doesn't need that protection.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑09 Oct 2019, 03:11What part of my post sounds unreasonable?boxing_rocks wrote: ↑08 Oct 2019, 19:59

Top Rank can't orchestrate marquee bouts for both of these guys. It's due to the way Bob Arum does business.
It has nothing to do with the fighting ability of Ramirez or Crawford. Both men are aligned with a promoter that can't make the biggest bouts happen.
Read my first post in this thread, review the evidence I've supplied and then tell me that I haven't raised a perfectly valid point?

Bullsh!t. Arum can orchestrate whatever he decides to orchestrate. As a matter of fact, he said that according to his conversation with Haymon, the fight will happen in 2020.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑09 Oct 2019, 17:31You didn't read what I wrote, did you?boxing_rocks wrote: ↑09 Oct 2019, 16:32
