About as good a replacement as you could hope for on 4 days notice. Not really much of a step down from Spong at all.

Not by much, if at all. Chazz is a badly faded 38 and hasnt fought a quality opponent in many years. The only way it goes past a few rounds is if Usyk toys with him to get some rounds in.
That being said, its better than a cancellation.

Isn't spong in his late 30s too? He'd be hard pressed to give chazz a go. Heck, I figured chazz was in his 40s. I didn't say it was a good fight, just not as bad as the original.Best Coast wrote: ↑09 Oct 2019, 00:55Not by much, if at all. Chazz's career since he got wrecked by Seth Mitchell has been really strange. He's spent 7 years sporadically crushing no-hopers at a rate of around 1 per year. What is the point? Surely he isn't making much money from this?

I think Dawejko is a tougher out than Witherspoon....he is a more active fighter..

Dawejko probably would have been the best option of the 3. He's not good but he at least has fought gone the distance with tough opponents and gave Kuzmin a close fight.

I agree, and he posts here too and sounds like a good guy. I think he deserved a good high profile payday more than Witherspoon.

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Chazz Witherspoon - October 12, 2019
This fight should be nothing at all for Usyk, but he has to shake off the ring rust if he's going straight for the top. The truth is I wasn't sure what to expect from the sponge. I like this one better as a warmup fight. Usyk vs. Wilder or Ortiz - I think he'd dance rings around them. Fury I'm not so sure. Fury is so big and slick too. But I think he'd beat all three of them, but maybe not all at the same time. Let's see how he looks this weekend.
PS Say what, is Fury becoming a pro wrestler now!?

Bookies don’t think Chazz is an upgrade. He’s twice as big a dog as Spong was. -3500 to -7000.

1000-1 is -100,000. Odds never get that high. -25,000 is the highest boxing lines I’ve seen.

I bet Chazz Witherspoon is making a very nice paycheck for saving this event
