A very serious crash, resulting in serious injuries, but reports are he is expeceted to live. Wether or not he can return to a boxing ring seems very uncertain u til more info is released on the extent of his injuries.

Not trying to kick a man when he's down, hope he makes full recovery etc....but it sounds like he was driving like a twat without wearing a seatbelt. I don't knew when people will learn, if you take risks and act like a nincompoop in a motorcar, it won't end well.
Re: Errol Spence in serious car crash
This is bad news. I really hope this doesn’t affect Spence’s career. The lad is a quality fighter and a fight against Crawford would be huge.
Shows you how quick things can potentially change forever.

Re: Errol Spence in serious car crash
Latest news is that he has a few lost teeth and will resume his boxing career.

Re: Errol Spence in serious car crash
Lol sounds too good to be true. Hopefully he learned his lesson and the minor nature of the injury won't give him more confidence to drive like an idiot.
Would've been insanely awful for him to have ended up killed or injured to the point where he couldn't continue boxing. Lets go champ.

Re: Errol Spence in serious car crash
If he gets out of that with just a few lost teeth, its a near miracle.
Given the car rolled mutliple times at high speed, wearing no seatbelt, and he was flung out the car via the windscreen, i'd expect some broken bones at the very least.

Ironically, not wearing the seat belt saved his life! He's OK and will fight again.Steveh583 wrote: ↑10 Oct 2019, 16:53 Not trying to kick a man when he's down, hope he makes full recovery etc....but it sounds like he was driving like a twat without wearing a seatbelt. No broken bones, awake and responsive.
Re: Errol Spence in serious car crash
I have heard stories of that happening to people in the past, where they suffer cuts and bruises from going through the windscreen but would have been crushed to death had they stayed in the car much longer.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑10 Oct 2019, 17:32Ironically, not wearing the seat belt saved his life! Glad he is going to be OK, whether or not he fights again is a minor sidenote in situations like this, particularly when he has probably made enough money to be able to retire if need be.

Incredible. A miraculous escape by the sounds of it
Re: Errol Spence in serious car crash
Paul Williams’ motorbike accident still bothers me, as I was a real fan. I suppose it’s in a fighter’s nature to be thrill seeking and reckless: it’s horrible to hear when someone so physically gifted loses it all through stupidity; something that just could have been avoided. Isn’t fighting for a living dangerous enough?
I’m glad he’s alright if that is the case.

1. not wearing a seatbelt.....
2. Driving a convertable
Both facts meant he was thrown clear of the car and allowed his body speed to decelerate naturally......albeit probably being ragdolled along the road. if he had hit a solid object after being thrown out then it would have been endex/game over/final bell
if the car had had a roof he would have been 'tumbledried' inside it
he is a very very lucky cookie. the stars aligned for him and his time was not up.
point to note........its generally and normally much much safer to wear a seatbelt. its statistically proven.
Re: Errol Spence in serious car crash
Yesterday I joined others in sending out nothing but best wishes to him and his family and hoping for a good outcome.
Now that I have seen the crash footage and now that he is going to be fine, I wish to say that I think he is a bit of a prick to be driving in that manner, in a built up area. 2am or not, there are a ton of reasons that a family could have been in the area, or even just an innocent person on the sidewalk

So we all agree that no seatbelt in a cabriolet is the way to go?
Re: Errol Spence in serious car crash

He obviously flew out of the car, not through it.keirw wrote: ↑11 Oct 2019, 02:20I have heard stories of that happening to people in the past, where they suffer cuts and bruises from going through the windscreen but would have been crushed to death had they stayed in the car much longer.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑10 Oct 2019, 17:32

I’d have loved to have seen Mayweather fight Williams at WW.clopixolacuphase wrote: ↑11 Oct 2019, 06:06 Paul Williams’ motorbike accident still bothers me, as I was a real fan. Yeah, Diego Corrales shocked me too. What was he 31 something like that?
Having seen the video Errol is a very lucky boy. Though I think his team saying he’ll make a full recovery is a bit premature, he may never be the same again even if he heals physically.
Re: Errol Spence in serious car crash
I wasn't aware that he was driving a convertable, he will obviously suffer less injuries than the cases I was referring to and will probably be back driving like a pudendum in no time.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑11 Oct 2019, 08:15He obviously flew out of the car, not through it.keirw wrote: ↑11 Oct 2019, 02:20

I think Corrales was way over the drink drive limit when he crashed, Williams unfortunately "ran out of talent" as bikers say.
Re: Errol Spence in serious car crash
Oh was he? I thought it was early doors and he was on his way to a wedding. Didn’t follow the story enough to know he was drunk. Still, he was a young fella, at the end of his boxing career no doubt but it’s a sad way to go.banjo wrote: ↑11 Oct 2019, 13:10Covfefe wrote: ↑11 Oct 2019, 12:31

Re: Errol Spence in serious car crash
Something like 3 times the legal limit I think, then throwing your leg over a powerful sports bike is asking for trouble.
