Oh was he? I thought it was early doors and he was on his way to a wedding. Didn’t follow the story enough to know he was drunk. Still, he was a young fella, at the end of his boxing career no doubt but it’s a sad way to go.
Think Paul was heading to a wedding
Ah, must have mixed them up in my memory. :TU:

If he was cycling at a decent pace then it's very dangerous and like hitting a brick wall at 30 miles per hour.I cycle to work, not anything quick but i know if i came off or hit a car i'd be in serious trouble

How you land can have more of an effect than how fast you're going too, land head first and you're at serious risk, even with a helmet, that won't stop you from breaking your neck.

Have you had many crashes banjo? I’ve got my bike license but after 3 near misses due to drivers being arseholes I gave it up, never came off. I’ve some pals who are keen and they’ve had multiple accidents where they have came out with very minor injuries...is it just your Donald Duck or can you learn to come off better?

Edit: I’ve just remembered I crashed a scooter at about 30mph in Thailand, some wee rat hit my back tyre. I came off pretty well rolled and hit the ground running. Pulled my toenails off a bit and had skinned my knee but that was all. Some Aussies who were watching couldn’t believe it they said. Cleaned out the leg for me as well cos they said the ground is so dirty any would would go infected over night otherwise. Rinsed it with iodine etc.

F*cking loads of crashes

Most serious injury is a broken tibia, plus I've lost my pinky on my right hand from a motorbike crash, I used to race 125's back in the day so I've had a few spills

All you can do if you come off is try and relax(as daft as that sounds, but you are more likely to get hurt if you stiffen up ) pull your arms up against your chest to reduce the risk of breaking them but that's it, down to luck then.

There used to be a poster on here who stepped awkwardly off a kerb and ended up in a wheelchair, that's how fragile the human body can be.

From a boxing perspective this is terrible news. Errol Spence was a superb boxer and equally entertaining. He never froze on the big stage and just kept on delivering.

What an awful shame for the fans to miss out out on the fights he might have figured in with some of the other top Welterweights. He had the potential to clean up the division and would have become a big star.

I wish him all the best with his recovery and his future, whatever that may hold.

R6 down hill, legal limit, some prick pulled out, the drove off!! Scooped up by armed police. I remember a flashing light. It was the headlights of the car on the opposite side of the road. I stoped 5 metres away from it. It was my lucky day!

Did you ever get experience that feeling of thinking about everything in life, ie; family, while hurtling through the air? Someone once told me the name of said feeling, but I’ve forgot.

Yep, my racing crashes were often like that, the faster you go it seems the rest of the world seems to go backwards, almost like bullet time in The Matrix

Something like 3 times the legal limit I think, then throwing your leg over a powerful sports bike is asking for trouble.
Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

I’ve drunk more than anybody, but never get in my car. Even for 3 days afterwards.

So unsurprisingly Spence has been charged with drink driving, what a prick, if he'd died or been left paralysed from the neck down I wouldn't be giving him any sympathy, especially with the type of motor he was driving, just be thankful it was only him hurt

People keep saying he's young, like it's an excuse, but he's like 30 with 2 kids or something, should have known better and been mature enough years ago. He was fortunate to not hurt himself bad or others. Hopefully he's learned from this and can improve his choices.
