Usyk Enters the BoxRec HW rankings
Usyk Enters the BoxRec HW rankings
With his conversion of points from CW and his win over Chazz, Usyk enters the rankings at 4, above Fury.
I get the how the points system works, but in my opinion, he should be at 5.

Re: Usyk Enters the BoxRec HW rankings
Apart from Fury, I had a look at who (#15) is below him and I think he could beat those guys. Some rather badly. I also think he would quickly have the measure of Andy Blobby and maybe not KO him, but get a decision.
I agree that Fury- with Wlad and the bronze blabber on his record, should be above Usyk.

Well I was browsing the threads and saw this and gotta bring it up quickly again---but you say he should be at 5 but then don't want him top 15 in our rankings?

Re: Usyk Enters the BoxRec HW rankings
Did anybody realise that Chris Eubank Jr. is rated above Oleksandr Usyk, Naoya Inoue, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua in BoxRec’s pound-for-pound rankings?

That’s how deeply-flawed BoxRec’s ratings system is.
I could provide quite a few problematic and weird examples to support my stance.

Cut the crap ... not being officialy charged doesn't mean nothing, that's what you idiot and boxing has become .Enlightened-One wrote: ↑17 Oct 2019, 03:39To be fair, neither Dillian Whyte nor Jarrell Miller have been officially charged with consuming PED’s.

Dillian Whyte nor Jarrell Miller haven’t received any punishment (yet) for consuming PED’s. At this point in time, they’re both free to resume their careers and engage in bouts. It's not as if I'm personally to blame for this situation.
BoxRec’s ratings are based on statistics and real-world facts, such as fighters not being banned and engaging in bouts. Emotions and opinions aren’t within the scope of their points calculations. Perhaps I'm an idiot for appreciating this fact.
Re: Usyk Enters the BoxRec HW rankings
EO is right. Nothing official has been put down on either Miller or Whyte. BoxRec will take the appropriate steps if/when something official occurs.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑17 Oct 2019, 04:22I don’t know why you’re so offended about this issue, as well as my feedback.

Re: Usyk Enters the BoxRec HW rankings
Keep in mind fighters get official medical/precautionary suspensions all the time after fights, and BoxRec doesn't remove these fighters from the rankings. BoxRec seems to be that you're out either at 12 months of inactivity or when you die/announce your retirement, and that's pretty much it.oogiebe wrote: ↑17 Oct 2019, 08:09EO is right. After further thought, I imagine BoxRec only removes fighters for length of inactivity.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑17 Oct 2019, 12:48Keep in mind fighters get official medical/precautionary suspensions all the time after fights, and BoxRec doesn't remove these fighters from the rankings.

Ya, that's pretty much the one. I notice that if a fighter publically announces their retirement or dies of course they will do it too, but nothing for any suspensions.

Re: Usyk Enters the BoxRec HW rankings
The points system at Box Rec needs adjustment. It doesn't factor in moving up in weight classes. It should take away 250 points for each move up, ignoring all jr and super divisions.
