Three sparring partners have been identified in AJ's camp:
Hussein Muhamed 707814
Tim Moten 814728
Derek Chisora
Interesting choices but not really guys that can mimick Ruiz.

I was just looking up Moten's record. He's had 1 pro fight and lost his debut lol. Great prep for Ruiz.

Means nothing, some guys are great gym fighters but poor pros. It isn’t a fight remember it’s sparring.Nondescript wrote: ↑17 Oct 2019, 09:28 I was just looking up Moten's record. He's had 1 pro fight and lost his debut lol. Great prep for Ruiz.

True. It could just be though that they have grabbed the closest guy to Ruiz in terms of stature and body type, even if he's not remotely on the same level in ability which would mean even if AJ was doing great against him in sparring, it would be creating a false sense of security in preparation for the real thing.Controversial wrote: ↑17 Oct 2019, 09:30Means nothing, some guys are great gym fighters but poor pros. Re: AJ's sparring partner
It’s more to get used to punching at that height level and getting someone to mimic Ruiz.. No prep will be the same as the real thing. Similarly Ruiz can only get someone similar to AJNondescript wrote: ↑17 Oct 2019, 09:34True. Re: AJ's sparring partner
Chis seems like a decent one...similar physically and with the similar way of punching with clubbing shots in combo. How many guys are really awesome matches for Ruiz?
Sparring partners usually are still quite different from the actual opponent. Especially as you move up the levels, you have fewer guys who match the physical dimensions and abilities of your opponent.

Re: AJ's sparring partner
Chisora vs AJ in sparring. Love to see that. Someone will hit the deck. I bet AJ first.
