WBSS Super-Lightweight Final: Josh Taylor vs. Regis Prograis - 26 October 2019
Re: WBSS Super-Lightweight Final: Josh Taylor vs. Regis Prograis - 26 October 2019
i think prog will win.
taylor needs not to allow him to dictate the pace of the fight. the slower it is the easier for prog.
if josh wins it will be a great victory.

I edge Prog in this fight too, I think he just has a bit of extra compsure about him and sticks to his fight more. Taylor has that tear up tendency to make things more difficult than they need to be I think.
One of the best fights in all of boxing, looking forward to it , both these guys are legit prime fighters at the tops of their divisson, this isn't some past-marinated bullshite

Been thinking that whoever dictates the pace will probably win. Prograis slows everything down and Taylor is 100 mph. That’s what it will come down to I think.
If Reggie can eat to Taylor’s temper and make him hold his feet or trade a bit more, that will play into his hands as well.

Press Release
Denis Radovan Added To Blockbuster WBSS Bill On October 26 in London
He will fight Luke Blackledge
German middleweight star Denis Radovan (12-0-1, 5 KOs) will make his international debut on October 26th on the undercard of the Ali Trophy Super Lightweight Final between Josh Taylor and Regis Prograis at The 02 in London.
The 27-year-old returns to the ring having secured the IBF European title with a points win over domestic rival Ronny Mittag in Wolfsburg in April, and will look to continue his climb up the middleweight ladder against former Commonwealth Champion Luke Blackledge (26-8-2, 9 KOs).
“It’s unbelievable to be boxing on such a big show,” said Radovan. “This is without a doubt the biggest show I have ever boxed on, and I have to thank my promoters Team Sauerland for this fantastic opportunity.
“I know Blackledge very well, we had some very tough sparring sessions in Germany so I know I’m in for a tough fight, but I also took a lot of confidence from these spars. I’ve had a great camp and preparations have been perfect.”
Blackledge, a seasoned contender, has faced the likes of ex-WBA World Champion Rocky Fielding and series one World Boxing Super Series victor, WBA Super and Ring Magazine Champion Callum Smith, and is confident his experience will give him the edge against the unbeaten Radovan.
“I’m excited to get another big chance. I want to make a statement and put on a show,” said Blackledge. “I’ve had a great camp, I’ve been over to Norway to spar, and now I’m fit and I’m ready to go!
“I was in Germany sparring Tyron Zeuge a few years ago and Radovan was in the same training camp, so I spent the whole month in camp with him sparring and training so I know what he’s about.
“I know I’m going to have to go through hell and I’m going to take him somewhere he’s never been before. With my experience, grit and determination to win it’s going to be a hard night for him. I won’t lie down for anyone – I’m going there to win 110%.”
Promoter Nisse Sauerland is anticipating an excellent night of action and is looking forward to watching rising star Radovan make his UK debut.
“Fighting on a card like this is a very special opportunity for Denis,” said Sauerland. “This will be his first fight abroad and with Blackledge he gets a very experienced opponent who has boxed plenty of big names. All in all Denis can take a lot out of this fight!”
World Boxing Super Series Super Lightweight finalists Regis Prograis (24-0, 20 KOs) and Josh Taylor (15-0, 12 KOs) headline the huge show at The 02 as both fighters compete for the Ali Trophy, IBF and WBA World titles, WBC Diamond title and the prestigious Ring magazine strap.
London’s Dereck Chisora (31-9, 22 KOs) takes on popular Liverpudlian David Price (25-6, 20 KOs) in a hotly anticipated British heavyweight duel, while fellow Londoner Lawrence Okolie (13-0, 10 KOs) looks to add another belt to his collection as he challenges Yves Ngabu (20-0, 14 KOs) for the Belgian’s European Cruiserweight title.
Former World Champions Ricky Burns (43-7-1, 16 KOs) and Lee Selby (27-2, 9 KOs) meet in an intriguing lightweight clash, whilst Team Sauerland’s exciting contender Abass Baraou (7-0, 4 KOs) makes his UK debut against the resilient John O’Donnell (33-2, 11 KOs).
Also featuring on the stacked fight card are young stars Conor Benn (15-0, 10 KOs), Austin Williams (3-0, 3KOs) and Shannon Courtenay (3-0, 1 KO) who continue their education in the paid ranks. All the action from the 02 Arena is available to watch live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and DAZN in the US. Tickets are available online via www.AXS.com.

Reggie has been on some serious press and promo tour. Seen him everywhere and doing everything. He seems really genuine and likeable, got that Yank cockiness. Contrasts really well against Taylor’s patter.
I can see both fighters’ stock rising after this fight and on both sides of the Atlantic. I just hope it’s as good as I’ve built it up to be in my head.

The bit in the Hackney boxing school was the best idea he’s had. I wonder how many UK fans will be in his corner? I can’t beleive it but I’m now predicting head-Taylor, heart-Prograis. Always a good sign when you’re flip-flopping.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑18 Oct 2019, 12:23Prog is a good talker.. Re: WBSS Super-Lightweight Final: Josh Taylor vs. Regis Prograis - 26 October 2019
Well here we go I'm buzzing like fcvk for this one, ive been telling anyone who'll listen that Taylor will be the GOAT Scottish boxer, he's still a bit to go to reach Buchanan and Lynch maybe but becoming a world champ after 15 fights ive no embarrassed myself too much even if his career goes tits up from here on in, this is a tough, tough fight for him, toughest of his career and considering who he's fought already that's saying something
He pulled off a great win in the semis, beating a very tough capable unbeaten champion in Baranchyk, decking him twice before a deserved decision,, Prograis himself looked excellent in his SF, taking apart a usually tough and durable Relikh, it was a bit of a mismatch really
Taylor had some lazy spells against Baranchyk and never jabbed as much as you'd have liked, his body punching was top drawer though, Prograis got wobbled after the bell against Relikh and although it was an illegal shot and Prograis was in no way defending himself Taylor should still take heart from the fact that Prograis can be hurt
I'm struggling to pick a winner if I'm honest, I really rate both guys, Taylor has the better CV and home advantage which I reckon can be crucial but Prograis looks like the kind of boxer who wont be intimidated, it'll be high end boxing but Taylor fights with his heart a lot and will probably look to put it on Prograis for a tear up and Prograis will have to dig deep at times or Taylor will overwhelm him with volume if he sees Prograis wilting
Stab in the dark I'm gonna say Taylor stops Prograis late in a fight that's still up for grabs at that point
WAR TAYLOR

Its gonna be epic mate I'm buzzing like a jar of wasps as Charlie Flynn once said, nah as much as I rate Taylor and have confidence in him, I also know how good Prograis is, that's what worries me but here this is what's championship level boxings all about, best vs the best, Taylor's insistence on fighting with his heart ensures this will be dramatic even if Prograis tries to keep things composedStuarty wrote: ↑21 Oct 2019, 06:12Even reading this I'm already getting excitedhandsofstone wrote: ↑21 Oct 2019, 02:55 Well here we go I'm buzzing like fcvk for this one, ive been telling anyone who'll listen that Taylor will be the GOAT Scottish boxer, he's still a bit to go to reach Buchanan and Lynch maybe but becoming a world champ after 15 fights ive no embarrassed myself too much even if his career goes tits up from here on in, this is a tough, tough fight for him, toughest of his career and considering who he's fought already that's saying something

I won't be able to sleep on Fri and i'll be hyper as fukk all day Sat. It's a genuine 50/50 fight. I like Prograis as well. Seems a genuine dude. Taylor has to jab more and use educated pressure rather than his usual all guns blazing approach. Honestly can't wait. Not looked forward to a fight this much in years!

No offence to the Scots on here, but I hope Prograis wins. Taylor just seems like a bit of a gobshite to me and not particularly likeable.
He doesn't have Burns likeability even if he is more skilled.

I've been looking forward to this one for months, so tough to call - heart says Taylor, head says Prograis (close decision). Would love Josh to pull off the win, my favourite UK boxer to watch right now. Roll on Saturday!

My head says Prograis. He just seems to be so cool and composed, always sticking to his approach. Taylor has the ability but seems to stray tactically more often than Reeg.
