The punches didn't have the effect on Beterviev that I thought they would. Beterbiev clearly took over in the last couple of rounds and it was a matter of time from there. Bad loss for Gvosdyk. Imagine if Canelo beats Kovalev then beats Beterbiev in a unification. That achievement would make him one of the greatest fighters of all time.
I had it on mute too and saw Bert clearly ahead...not influenced by the commentary !!! :yay:
Most of the scorecards I've seen are pretty close. A point or two either way. It comes down to what you prefer.

Interesting scores from everyone. I thought OG was outlanding him in a good few round aearly on, but the relentlessness and much better body language of AB seems to have swayed a lot of people. I can see a case for scoring some round either way but after the 6th it was all one way.

Up? How?
Gvosdyk was outboxing him. Most people actually had Gvosdyk ahead at the time of the stoppage. For all your arrogance, you're actually in the minority.

All my arrogance? I wrote Up? How?

Just don't see how he could possibly have been up. The guy was beaten up badly and stopped

Terrific fight :box: The sort of contest I could watch again and again.

Beterbiev was formidable and that's how you go about winning a high profile unification clash. He's the man to beat in the Light heavyweight division.

Gvozdyk is very good but in the end he just couldn't cope with Beterbiev's pressure, power, class and boxing skills (which some seem to underestimate surprisingly).

For what it's worth I had Artur pulling away on points by the 10th so whichever way you cut it Beterbiev held all the aces. Gvozdyk was having to hold on a lot more in those last 2/3 rounds to survive.

Beterbiev is top of the pile IMO and this win should be really celebrated.

If you prefer a guy getting the beating of his life then you could certainly have The Nail winning.

I just get around to watching the fight, watched it in Russian , i had Gvozdyk a round up 86-85 at the end but Beterbiev started to take him apart in the 9th and watching it already knowing the result it was clear Gvozdyk came apart in that round and Beterbiev just pummeled him in that 10th

I think it was a case of what you prefer, Beterbiev's punches always had that more thud to them when they landed but Gvozdyk moved well, always careful not to stay still and he got home with some quick combinations before getting out of there, I thought Beterbiev had a bit of a lull in the middle rounds and that was where Gvozdyk picked up the points on my card

Still no doubting who was the better man in the end, Beterbiev just hits to hard, he's hardly explosive but when he lands guys just cant cope, none of the knock downs looked particularly damaging but he just clubbed Gvozdyk into defeat

Let’s not forget them body shots. Did you fee them? Part of the process of breaking Gvozdyk down.

Mate I'm not gonna lie, I'd seen the body shots mentioned before the fight from a few posters so I was expecting to see them but TBH I never noticed much of them until the end

I had Gvosdyk ahead myself and saw the fight quite similar to how you did. I wonder if Gvosdyk could beat him in a rematch? This is the second time he's been done by Beterbiev inside the distance so he might be mentally beaten before he enters the ring. I thought he was outboxing Beterbiev and it was going his way but those rough spots that he was occasionally having just started to take too much out of him. For me this was an interesting fight because Beterbiev overcame a skill disadvantage to take Gvosdyk apart. I thought Gvosdyk would be able to do what Usyk did to Beterbiev in the amateurs.

I just don't think Gvosdyk managed to get Beterbiev to respect his power enough.
