Where Next for Ritson?

He has been asking for the winner of Reggie and Josh.
I'm not sure he is quite at the level of even facing the loser of that belt- yet.
What do you guys think?
Should he take an interim fight before his (possibly mandatory) shot at the WBA belt?
If so, who would be a good stepping stone to that level?

He fought well last night but he's at his level, world level fighters will take him to school.

Barrios was gifted in his world title win. WBA called for a rematch and ordered one.

his best bet is to create some more fake beef and sell out the arena again- if he's gonna try his luck at world level, best of luck to him, but he's gonna struggle big time. Linares maybe? think it'd be a long night for Ritson but at 140 Linares is not what he was and is getting on a bit now.

Domestically Ohara davies, not sure how well they'd gel but would definitely shift tickets.

I love Ritson and what he brings to the sport

but

he is too easy to clip and he does not possess the pop at the new weight.

he can carry on entertaining us up to european level......thats it.

RDJ is also at the same level. their fight showed this. they are deluded if they think they can take on the big names.

From a selfish point of view i wouldn't mind Taylor at St.James Park because it's only a couple of hours on the train for me and it's an excuse for a mad weekend as i'm a Taylor fan boy. Josh has his hands full this weekend though and both Prograis and Taylor would batter Ritson.

Catterall or Flanagan would be good to see but i think both guys are with BT...

Ritson said he couldn’t stand and trade with RDJ so it’s not like he’s deluded.
Let him make big money from a home challenge to Taylor/Prog and he’ll give it his best. I imagine he’ll rise to the occasion and keep it competitive for a few rounds before inevitably getting KOd around 6-7, but it’s a chance he’ll have to jump at.

Ridiculous to hear the one sided commentary from the gurning fan boy Adam Smith, desperate for Ritson to win ( SUCH a breath of fresh air !! lovely guy!!! ) Giving him every round possible, and trying to encourage his fellow ( eager to please ) commentators to do the same as well ( er yes Adam, I think that’s a Lewis round ) Spends half his time going on about how everyone is such “a great guy” ..the referee, promoter, all the fighters ...he’s such a kiss arse it’s absolutely ridiculous and no surprise he’s scaled the sky corporate ladder. Such bad luck for British boxing fans to have this numbskull in charge

Great win for Lewis, showed heart and a good chin.
And yes the sky dream will come true: big fight at St James’ park no doubt.
He will just have to bide his time, get a few crowd pleasing bouts with opponents whose chins are slightly brittle, get a few highlight KO’s, get the fans excited & confidence up, Al Shearer ringside, wait till some over inflated prospect wins a vacant belt then get him his shot.

Too many hard-nosed geezers floating around at superlight for them to let the reins off just yet.

Linares is a good shout
Even only a year ago, I would have said no way. But your right, Linares is a good name fighter still, and ripe for the picking. If Ritson can stay on his feet for the first 4, his youth might see him through to grinding out a win. Even if he loses, a lot can be learned from a wiley campaigner like Linares.

My suggestion; Cletus Seldon.
Cletus is ranked #10th with the WBA, Ritson #9th.
Pretty good match as far as levels go. Be a nice step into the American market if it was held in the Hebrew Hammer's home turf.
