Just behind Buchanan with more to come. Well on his way to becoming the best ever Scottish fighter imo. Big ask on Sat but he looks focussed and in the zone.

Already ahead of Pat Clinton, Paul Weir, Gary Jacobs, Scott Dixon and Alex Arthur.

Buchanon will be tough to top, more so Benny Lynch

Prograis
Postal
Baranchyk

Good wins for sure. Prog an elite top 2-3 guy (IMO prob the best at 140), Postal a still good veteran, Baranchyk a young hungry fresh titlist who fought hard.

Question was IF Josh wins though? Where does that leave him? If Prog is the main man for you and Josh wins then where does that leave him? 140 has always been strong. We are well spoiled for fights here man

Not much mention of Harrison or Burns on here ,
If Taylor wins then hes above them , if he loses is he behind them on par ?

I Think Scott Harrisons Resume is pretty impressive (until all the UNPLEASANTNESS)

Ricky Burns although some Great performances and a few World titles - Not so Much

Taylor certainly stepped it up a lot quicker than both and looking great so far.

If Josh wins he goes past Scot Harrison, his resume goes gold if he beats the American hot shot ...so 3rd I guess

You can’t rank him over legends like Ken B and Benny Lynch yet.

Nah. Too early.

I'm a massive Taylor fan but even if he beats Prograis I'd still have him behind Harrison, Burns and Watt........ Just now.

Buchanan and Lynch are well out in front. Maybe one day. If he does end up being ranked alongside them he'll have had a great career.

Fine.

I can't be bothered debating it with you though as you don't listen to other people's views

I do and in back and forths I'll explain why I feel as I do. Just because I don't come around to agreeing doesn't mean I don't consider other views.

I'll bite

2 time featherweight champion. Including wins over Chacon, Wayne McCulloch, Michael Brodie and Medina (avenged after first defeat to regain title). Amongst others.

Never lost his regained title in the ring but couldn't defend it because of the crisps.

I love Josh Taylor and he's brought new life into Scottish boxing but he hasn't achieved what Harrison did yet. A blind man could see that.

Good points Ewey

I'll say though, being a 2 time champ isn't for me a plus in this situation. That just means Harrison was defeated and then managed a win over a guy he couldnt the first try. If Taylor wins then he unifies (Harrison never did) as an unbeaten champ who beat two unbeaten and good champs. I also think Prograis is an elite world class fighter and better than the Harrison opponents you list, so I give Taylor more credit for best win if he does it too. To me Brodie is no better than the likes of Baranchyk (probably worse after the Chi beatdown) and Harrison beat a McC who hadn't won a meaningfrul fight in years and lost 4 of last 5 and was significantly past his best, to me worse than Postal at the weight.

Keep in mind, I'm saying IF Taylor beats Pro. To me he will have just reached a higher level.

Harrison lost a split decision to Medina then stopped him 3 months later to regain the title. Which is a pretty big statement in my eyes.

Harrison fought 10 World title fights within 3 years and went 8-1-1. The defeat was instantly avenged in dramatic style.

Taylor just doesn't have the cv that Harrison had yet. You always overrate the current guys and you constantly seem incapable of putting current successes correctly in historical context.

I'm not saying Taylor won't be rated higher historically than Harrison as he has talent to burn but, as usual, you're too quick to anoint the current guys.

Harrison lost to Medina, without that--let's say he just did a job on him the first time--he's just a 1 time champ. I don't give him bonus points for losing rather than just winning in one go. If Taylor beats Prog then he's won, defended, and then unified all in one try, and I think he'd be doing the unification vs someone better than anyone Harrison beat. I have context just fine, and know that a guy like McCullough hadn't won a meaningful fight in years and was ending his career with 4 of the last 5 lost.

Overall I'd rate Josh as having reached a higher level and doing more at the top of their resumes, with fewer hiccups than Harrison had. Sure Harrison will have been 8-1-1 with a belt, but the quality of the run is more important and he never unified vs a strong opponent.

I hardly annoint any fighters and am not annointing Taylor as some amazing ATG, simply as having done more than Harrison if he wins. Not like Harrison is some massively proven great with a deep top end resume or anything.

He's still a couple of good defences short in my mind even if he wins against Prograis.

I understand your thought process but respectfully disagree.

Would it be far wrong to say Harrison was a big favourite in all his title fights ..?

I'd say Taylor is around Harrison level now, but will leap frog Burns if he wins and move to 3rd behind Buchanan and Watt IMO.

A win tomorrow would certainly eclipse all of Harrisons big wins. Scott was on the cusp of some mega fights until he hit self destruct.

I’ve never quite forgiven Harrison for the first Medina fight. My dad doesn’t really like boxing but I got him to sit down with me to watch the show, as I convinced him Harrison was quality. My dad must have thought I knew eff all about boxing after the performance he put on

1 Buchanan
2 Lynch
3 Watt
4 Harrison
5 Taylor and Burns

if he wins tomorrow he moves up to joint third with Watt.
