Marcel Braithwaite has finally been given a title opportunity. By Elliot Foster
The talented super-flyweight will take on Craig Derbyshire next month.
Braithwaite, who got back to winning ways in May to rebound from his sole defeat as a pro to date suffered last September, is set for action at the Bonus Arena in Hull.
The fight, which will top a bill promoted by Steve Wood for VIP Boxing, will be for the aforementioned Derbyshire’s English title at eight-stone three and will be screened exclusively live on VIP Boxing TV.
Derbyshire, for what it’s worth, is a former Central Area champion at bantamweight and won the English title with an unanimous decision over Nathan Reeve in Northampton. He has a record of 7-27-3 with two quick finishes.
The undercard will feature a whole host of local talent, including Sonny Taylor and Lewis Sylvester.

Good top of bill fight and a decent card overall. Looking forward to the next VIP show.
Good input from Carl Greaves when he does commentary.
