Nigel Benn fight with Bika is off

Post by Glass Joe »

Nigel Benn's highly anticipated comeback fight against Sakio Bika has been called off due to Benn having a shoulder injury.

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/boxing/b ... t-20744937

I wonder if in reality it was too do with suspected poor ticket sales and not really that much interest. No mainstream channel picking it up for PPV and Benn safety.

How embarrassing for BIBA & Gianluca if they weren't even told about Nigel's injury , just about sums up the BIBA organization , could you imagine the same happening on a matchroom show with Hearn finding out after the press .

Most unsurprising news story of the day...I never thought for one minute the fight would go ahead tbh.

Dunno ,, i'm thinking different on this one , I would'nt off minded it going on , then i would off liked for it to be what it was always gonna be , a complete pisstake and grab for money .. I would of loved to see Benn and his backers do there dough , and lose millions ,

Then maybee next time the circus comes to town it brings real Lions not costumes filled with clowns ,,, only way these things will stop is when enough of them lose money and scare the others off

Dunno if the injury is genuine but to go through a proper training camp when you are over 40 would be grueling, and getting through the camp would be as hard as the fight.

So the attention seeking benn has re re hung up his gloves? Fck off benn you hung your gloves after sugar boy beat you in newcastle then you hung up your gloves after collins beat you, then collins beat you again and you hung up your gloves again now you havent even laced up a glove and your hanging your gloves back up? Fck off man i used to love watching you box but now your tarnishing your legacy big time, your 55 ffs just watch your son make his legacy and stand by him,if you feel like your missing out jump in a few interviews and keave it at that.

I’m not surprised tbh I just carnt see anyway the show can go on at the nec without a really big name and whoever was promoting it would lose serious money I just hope that people who have bought tickets get their hard earned money back

If you’re buying tickets to watch a 55 year old man get belted about the head then I’m not too bothered wether or not you see a penny back. Everyone involved in this gets zero sympathy from me

Anyone wanna buy 2 ringside tickets? Cost almost £1000 willing to sell for £30?

Joking aside it's a bit of an embarrassing day when the organisation have to find out that Benn has pulled out from the BBC. I fell sorry for the lads on the undercard who would have made a few quid and now possibly won't make a penny.

You will never fill a stadium without a big name and those ticket prices. You can't expect to pay more than £50 for ringside now, if the show goes ahead. Most people who bought tickets were possibly there just to see Benn and will certainly want a refund.

Like some have said it was doomed from the start and would like to know the real reason Benn pulled out.maybe he got closure elsewhere.

It's good news that Benn has pulled but not so good for those lads who would have made a few quid on the undercard.

Why would anyone think this would sell?

Original Benn fans are 40+ and surely now mature enough of brain to know we got value from Nige a quarter of a century ago and we'd not get it now.

Nobody younger than 40 will know who he is or care what he does.

Something else that surprised me about this gig. Did anyone hear anything from Bika? No prezzers or anything. Quite strange that he wasn't doing his bit to sell a show.

Surely they would made a few more quid out of this rather than fighting at a show in Prism in Leeds?
